Ludington and Scottville Libraries

Summer is (unofficially) here! And we are ready, with dozens of new titles added in just the last month! Our libraries have 100,000's of books, DVDs, magazines, and digital materials available to check out. If you need assistance, we are here to help. Did you know that you can reserve titles yourself by going online to MCDLibrary.org? And of course you can also call us to reserve a title. Use our digital book and audio book collection found at MCDLibrary.org/UpNorth.

This month, our Summer Reading Program goes into high gear, starting with the Summer Reading Kickoff Picnic on Friday, June 5th. Mondays in Ludington and Wednesdays in Scottville will be humming with fun and educational activities for children and their families all through the summer. Read more below.

Originally built in 1921 to race in the ocean, a sailboat named Bernida captures the attention and heart of a Michigan sailor. He buys the boat and brings her to the Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit. In 1925 the sailor enters Bernida in the very first Port Huron to Mackinac Island Race.

LearningExpress Library eBooks

MeL database LearningExpress Library is a vast collection of tests, tutorials, computer courses, nine unique learning centers and, eBooks!  Usually, LearningExpress resources are used online - in a library, at school, with a tutor, or at home.  But sometimes, online usage isn't available or convenient.  Just because a learner doesn't have a computer or internet access doesn't mean they can't practice algebra problems, review a study guide for a professional exam, or read up on test-taking tips.  eBooks available in LearningExpress can be downloaded and opened in Adobe Reader and once downloaded, they can be read offline or even printed.

These are the same high quality print publications many libraries purchase for their collections.  So, you can reassure your patrons that they can begin/continue their learning with LearningExpress Library eBooks whether they're connected or not.
