Sculpture Dedication - "Double the Fun"
at Mason County District Library, Ludington

The public is invited to join us Friday, August 15 at 5:00 pm in the Craig R. Rasmussen Outdoor Activity Area at the Ludington Library as we dedicate the latest addition to the Mason County Sculpture Trail. "Double the Fun," a bronze sculpture by artist Stanley Proctor, is given to the people of Mason County by Jon Ferguson in memory of his wife, Sallie Peterson Ferguson

Sallie grew up on a fruit farm outside of Ludington. She was a hard-working farm kid, spending her summers picking cherries, peaches and apples. A high school English teacher, Sallie was passionate about literature and public education. She helped found the Montessori School of Kalamazoo. Sallie created a myriad of educational opportunities for her daughters, often working with limited resources. Sallie was devoted to childhood learning.

Artist Stanley Proctor, a native Floridian, has installed numerous public and private commissioned monumental bronzes, including works at the Florida Governor's Mansion Children's Park, Hackensack University Medical Center, the Living Desert Museum in California, and the University of Southern Alabama.

Speakers at the Sculpture Dedication will include Dr. Bill Anderson, Chair, Cultural Economic Development Task Force; Jon Ferguson, sponsor; Stanley Proctor, artist; and Cliff Haka, Director, Michigan State University Libraries.

A brief reception will follow the dedication program Friday, August 15, 5:00 pm, Craig R. Rasmussen Outdoor Activity Area, Ludington Library.
