Will Spring ever come? Sure it will! The crocuses and daffodils will be peeking out any time now. Meanwhile, check out all the activities in our libraries. There are craft and play times for children, story times for preschoolers, and Lego Block Party Saturday. We also have Discovery Club on the 5th, and a Dr. Seuss Party on the 13th. Details below! Of course, we also have thousands of kids, teens, and adult books (and DVDs) available to borrow.


Did you know that you can go to our website, http://www.MCDLibrary.org, and look for books to borrow? You can even reserve the books yourself, if you know your Library Card Number and PIN. Call or stop in to learn how!

 New Book Alerts 


Adult Craft in Ludington
Tuesday, March 4 at 6:00 pm, adult crafters are invited to the West Shore Bank Room at Ludington Library to create a necklace and a bookmark. Crafters are invited to bring a pendant to decorate their necklace. There will be a small collection of pendants available at the event. 
This activity is open to adults only. There is a limit of 20 participants. Supplies are provided at no charge, but donations are appreciated. 


Computer Classes

Bring your laptop, iPad, or tablet to the Mason County District Library in Ludington on Sundays, 10:30 am, for assistance in learning to use your device.  ALL Mason County District Library programs are free of charge. 
Family Craft Time in Scottville

At the Mason County District Library in Scottville on Tuesday, March 4 at 
3:00 pm, the Family Fun Craft series features Painting Birdhouses. Families are invited to drop in any time between 3:00 and 5:30 pm and get creative. 

Coming up: April 1 - Celebration Plates; May 6 - Summer Serving Trays. Children under age 8 must be accompan
ied by an adult. 
ALL Mason County District Library programs are free of charge. Family Craft - 1st Tuesday - 3:00-6:00 pm - Scottville Library.
Discovery Club

In March, Discovery Club is meeting on the 1st Wednesday. Retired teacher Kathy Radtke will lead students as they explore or world through books, games, art, and other activities. For the 2013-2014 school year, the theme is Discovering Michigan.

Children in grades 2-5 are invited on Wednesday, March 5, at 4 pm to explore the 5 mile long bridge that connects Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas. Build your own replica of the Mackinac Bridge. Snacks are provided. Please call 231-843-8465 if you have questions.
Marti Gras Party 

Be Creative at your Library! There will be a Marti Gras Party at the Mason County District Library in Ludington Tuesday, March 4, at 4:00 pm. Families are invited to attend. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. 

ALL Mason County District Library programs are free of charge.

Dr. Seuss Party 

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Children of all ages are invited to attend a Birthday Party for the beloved children's author on Thursday, March 13, 4:00 pm at the Mason County District Library in Ludington. 

Stories, crafts, fun & games, and cake will be served! Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. ALL Mason County District Library programs are free of charge.

Learn how! The Ludington Library offers one-on-one instruction - just you and your device with Lisa, our digital expert. Come on in on Saturdays any time between 12:00 noon and 4:30 pm. Bring your digital device for one-on-one help, and please make sure to have it charged.


If you are in the Scottville area, Chris is also available for digital help on Wednesday evenings between 3:30 and 7:30 pm

Book Discussion Group - March   

A book discussion group meets at the Ludington Library. The next meeting will be Friday, March 21th at 9:30 a.m. 
This month's book is "The Aviator's Wife," a novel by Melanie Benjamin. Visit or call the Libraries at 231-843-8465 or 231-757-2588 to reserve a copy. You may wish to also read biographies on Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh in conjunction with this novel.

Block Party Saturdays   

Children and their families are invited to a Block Party using Lego brand bricks every Saturday between 1:00 and 4:00 pm, at Ludington Library. Blocks will be provided by the library. Children under age 3 are NOT invited to this event - there are many, many small parts that could be ingested. 


Spring Break Activities
Children of all ages are invited to the Mason County District Library in Ludington during Spring Break for free children's activities.  There will be crafts and art projects, puzzles, and card and board games available from 10:00-5:30 pm March 28 & 31, and April 1, 2, 3, and 4.  In addition, there will also be video games and Legos on some of the days, depending on available space.  Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult.  All Mason County District programs are free.
