LUDINGTON & SCOTTVILLE

SEND SEPTEMBER SALUTATIONS!

Whether you are coming back from summer vacation, enjoying a stay-cation, getting ready for school, sending kids off to college, working, or retired - there are books, DVDs, audio-books, and magazines available for your entertainment and enlightenment at your local library. You can also borrow digitally on a tablet or smart phone (see below), and subscribe to electronic magazines (Zinio). Our libraries are here to provide you with great reading, entertainment, information and education. There are plenty of resources and programs available at both Ludington and Scottville libraries for everyone to join in.

Numerous new books for adults, young adults, and children, plus DVDs for all ages, have been added to the shelves by your libraries. Click the 'NEW BOOK ALERTS' below to see just some of the new books and DVDs the library offers. Visit the library and check them out or go online to reserve them. Don't have time to come to the library? MCDL's collection of downloadable eBooks, audio-books, music and videos continues to grow. You can use your smart phone, Android tablet, iPad, or other eReader to borrow and read through the library's UpNorth Digital Collection.  And if you love magazines then read your favorite titles (over 100) available at Zinio - with no check out or return. You just download and read -  FREE. Need help with the electronic device? See the "Digital Fridays" article below. Someone can help walk you through the "how-to" and help you enjoy digital borrowing.

Join the NOT List (New Online Titles) to get first notice when new items are added to our digital collection.  Downloadable audiobooks and eBooks from the Library's digital collection are compatible with computers, Nooks, Kindles, iPads, many audio devices and Apple and Android mobile devices. eMail Librarian@MCDLibrary.org

Thank you to the Artists!
Art

Free Art Exploration classes in August for area children who were going into grades 6 though 9 were made possible by the West Shore Art League, from a legacy donation. Mason County District Library in Ludington thanks the artists who donated their time and talent:

Painting - Lynda Blankinship

Jewelry - Alayne Speltz

Drawing - Lynda Blankinship

Mixed Media - Amanda St. Hilaire

Performing Arts - Chris Plummer

Clay - Nathan Grubich

The West Shore Art League, established in 1967, dissolved in May after 45 years of purpose "to promote a wider understanding, a deeper appreciation and advancement of the useful knowledge of art in our community".

The West Shore Art League was founded and run in its entirety by volunteers who believed in the above mission and established programs and events to that end. Some of these programs will live on as a West Shore Art League legacy to the community through others.
