Benefit for Fleet Manager David White
Join Us Tomorrow Night for David White Benefit
Party with Windworks, bid on lots of cool items--and help Davey!

After sustaining substantial injuries in an accident last week, Windworks Fleet Manager David White has been starting the long road to recovery. Fortunately he is receiving the care he needs to make a full recovery, but with additional medical costs plus the cost of being out of work while he heals from surgery, Dave could use our help.

The larger Windworks community has already shown an overwhelming amount of support for Dave--from dock staff past and present who have stepped up to fill in for an irreplaceable employee to vessel owners and captains and club members who donated items to tomorrow's auction.

The benefit and silent auction starts tomorrow (Friday) at 6 PM. Auction items include free charters, private lessons, fine art, photo sessions, and much more-- all generously donated by staff, members, and friends.

If you can't make the event, we will also be collecting donations at the front desk through next week. It's not too late to donate items either, so contact the office if you would like to contribute.

Thank you all SO MUCH for your continued support of Windworks and our staff.

Get Your "Six-Pack" License!

OUPV (6-Pack) and Master classes coming this fall

The OUPV or "Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels" is commonly called the "six-pack" license because it certifies you to take passengers for hire-- up to six at a time.

You can take the required class right here at Windworks. Taught by Captain Robert Reeder at Seattle Merchant Mariner Training, these classes are designed to help you confidently navigate the course material. You will take all exams during scheduled class time, and after successful completion of the course, you will be qualified to apply for your USCG credential.

Greg Norwine Grand Prix & Scavenger Hunt on September 8
Scavenger Hunt & Grand Prix Coming Soon
Get ready for an all-day mega-event and celebration on September 8!

There is definitely something for everyone at this new club-wide event.

Starting at 10 AM, the day begins with two fun competitions-- the Grand Prix and Scavenger Hunt. Capri 22 racers compete for the Greg Norwine Cup while cruisers head out for a daysail with a twist.

Interested in skippering a vessel for the scavenger hunt? Contact Holly Walker, Windworks Office Manager, at holly@sail1.com for more information. Smartphones (at least one per boat) are recommended for the scavenger hunt.

After the morning excitement, all sailors (and non-sailors!) are invited to the afternoon after-party. Windworks will host a free lunch picnic with food, beer and wine. Club members not on vessels that day are highly encouraged to RSVP for the patio party.

We will be selling raffle tickets for door prizes (gear, books, charter discounts, and more!) and 100% of the proceeds from raffle tickets and donations will go to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Event schedule for Sunday, September 8
10 AM - 2 PM || Grand Prix Capri Racing & Scavenger Hunt
2:30 PM - 6 PM || FREE Picnic, Beer & Wine Garden
4 PM || Award Ceremony - Awards for the Grand Prix champions and Scavenger Hunt winners; door prizes for raffle winners

Windworks Exclusive "Brews Cruise" Event
Brew your own beer on this super fun overnight

Here's the plan: A three-boat flotilla of "brew masters" will depart Shilshole on Saturday, September 14 and sail up to the Port of Edmonds where they brew their own beer at Gallaghers'.

Each crew/team will brew one batch of beer to enter in the Windworks Oktoberfest Brew Challenge; the beers will be tasted and judged by their at the Oktoberfest party (details below).

EpiphanyMark II have been claimed but Selkie or Limu are available for this flotilla adventure as the third and final vessel. The cost of each vessel is $1,050, which includes fuel, overnight moorage, and the batch of custom brew! (Bar tabs at Gallagher's not included!)

There is still room -- call the office ASAP and choose either Limu or Selkie! Snag the boat, grab a crew, and brew!

If you're interested in skippering one of the vessels, assemble your own brew team of club members, and get ready for an EPIC weekend.

Gallaghers' Brewing Flotilla

Saturday, September 14 - Sunday, September 15

$1,050 per vessel. Call for details.

Oktoberfest

Saturday, October 12

6 PM - 8 PM

21+ event.

Windworks will be hosting an Oktoberfest event--open to all--where the three beers brewed by your fellow club members at Gallagher's will be available to sample--and judge!

The judging will be based upon two criteria: taste of the brew and creativity of the brew name and label. Prizes shall be awarded. Egos shall be squashed. And a good time shall be had by all.

Did I hear that the staff will be clad in lederhosen and dirndls?!  Mark your calendar and come see for yourself.
