5 Single Moms: 80 Volunteers: One Amazing Day!
|
SEARCH AND RESCUE We received over 50 requests from WayFm Christian Radio listeners who nominated their family and friends to receive home repairs. We searched, assessed and selected five ladies to help on "Live Service Out" Day.We could not begin to tell you the stories of how God worked that day in the lives of the families & in all our lives. Luke 19:10 says " For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost". We call it a "search and rescue" SPECIAL thanks to WayFm and all the volunteers who gave of their time and energy to come and serve!! In Denver we helped Betty. She's opened her heart & home as a Foster Mom for years and has adopted four children. She is described by her friend as "a wonderful woman who has dedicated her life to her children and loves them dearly. We painted her entire house, fixed her fence and did yard work.
Also in Denver, we worked in Lisa's home. Her daughter describes her as "special because she works hard everyday, is a student at a Community College, has a full time job, helps raise her grandson and still takes care of her special needs daughter who is 23. She is my hero, and she is getting really tired."
BTG and our team of volunteers painted her her garage, installed new flooring, repaired doors and screens, installed a new stove, repaired her back deck and steps & yard work. It was a great team |
In Colo Springs, Catie tragically lost her husband less than a year ago and has been re-adjusting to life as a single mom in all phases of her life. She has a 4 yr. old and a 2 yr. old. Her friends say " she is what faith looks like in the face of adversity and hardship". Like so many she works full time and now is learning to be handyman, mechanic as well as tackling her everyday tasks as a mom. We painted inside her home, fixed her ceiling ,reconstructed her backyard to divert water from flooding her home and general maintenance inside and out.
Tona also lives in Colo Springs, has a teenage daughter and also lost her husband. Being a hard worker and trying to make a good home for her family still didn't prepare her for how hard the loss would be and the obstacles that lay before her. She tries to navigate through the repairs of their home both inside and out. We repaired her chimney and fence, replaced her front door for security purposes and repaired and stained her decks both front and back.
Brittany works full time with a high energy 3 yr. old. With finances very tight, she moved in with her parents until she can get back on her feet as well as be there to help her mom. Brittany's dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of only 50. Both she and her mom Bonnie work to make ends meet with doctor bills and difficulty maintaining their house. We painted her entire home.
