                                                Remembering Hero's

With Mother's Day and Memorial Day in the same month, we have the chance to remember those who work the hardest not only for their families but for our country. The reason they are hero's is because they pour their life into what they believe in and their love for others. I don't think we've ever called someone a hero who "talked" about helping, who "thought" about helping, who just "wished" or "wanted" to help, but is one who pours their life into someone's else's. I hope you thanked every mom you ran into over Mother's Day and make sure you thank every Veteran this weekend---they are hero's.

Also below you'll read about 3 projects last weekend that changed the life of 3 single moms and their children. We at Be the Gift call those who volunteer hero's...WHY?   Because they poured their life into someone else's for what they believe in and because of their love for the Lord and others.

COLORADO SPRINGS COLO

               BEFORE

Many thanks to the volunteer team that literally transformed this back yard.  They worked endlessly all day loading, breaking down and filling a giant 30 yard roll off dumpster. Cyndi a Single Mom of 3 moved in with her 80 year old father after the death of her mother.  Because of age and health reasons, the yard was neglected. Her desire was to have a nice safe yard for her dad and her children.

Knowing this,  Cyndi's daughter nominated her through our annual WayFm Radio Single Mom Work Day Program. She surprised her with the information about Be the Gift and friends coming to her home to help make her dream come true. We are so proud of this team of mostly young adults, who worked so hard and gave of their time and energy.

LAKEWOOD COLO.   What a Day!!
We had over 20 volunteers help Naomi and her family. With so many generous hard working people involved, we were able to complete her "wish list" and more. We installed doors, worked in her kitchen, repaired an extra bathroom that had not been used in ten years, repaired a fence as well as general landscape maintenance and much more.

This family of 4 all jumped in and helped.

We heard from one family member who said:

"Thank you so much, my mom really needed this and we are extremely grateful to Be the Gift and the volunteers who came out.  It is truly amazing to see people go out of their way to help. We are very grateful for all you have done for us. We definitely plan to pay

it forward"

FORT COLLINS COLO.
This project for a Single Mom and her daughter involved our more skilled contractors and volunteers.  We removed old unhealthy carpet from a couple of her rooms and because of the generosity of a local church in Loveland, we were able to replace it with laminate flooring.

Suzanne just got her degree and is working hard to maintain her home and take care of her teenage daughter the best she can.

She  wrote: "Dear Chris and Marilyn, and all of you incredible volunteers,
WOW! What a difference you have made. We love our floor and are so grateful to each and every one of you who shared your Saturday (and days well ahead of time)at our home. The floor is beautiful and we are thrilled!!!!!!
Please know the difference you have made for us. Praying that each of you are richly blessed!"

Special thanks to WayFm Christian Radio Station for their promotion and support of Be the Gift. We met so many new Single Moms as well as their radio listeners who joined our projects on May 18th. On that note-- thanks to all volunteers who ventured out and changed not only the life of a struggling, hard working Single Mom, but also exhibited God's love to her children, neighbors and all of us that were involved.  We were so blessed!!

We do projects every month and will be posting upcoming projects on the Be the Gift Face Book page. We have many more photos to share with you in our photo album.
