The Gospel According to You!
I love the four Gospels that start the New Testament of the Bible. Because it is a true historical account of the work and life of Christ the Son of God.... A historical sequence from His birth to His ascension into heaven. Each written for a purpose, with its own theme and personality.
The Gospel of Matthew- He was a tax collector and whose theme is that Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah of the Nation of Israel. Written around 65 to 75 AD for the Jews to point them to Christ, their long awaited Messiah.
The Gospel of Mark who is John Mark a companion of Peter whose theme is about a compassionate Savior through His acts of service and acts of suffering to summon unbelievers to become disciples. So that believers would understand what it means to be committed follower of Jesus. Written between 60 to 70 AD for his Gentile audience in Rome.
The Gospel of Luke who was a Gentile doctor whose theme portrays Jesus as caring and compassionate, that advocates a peaceful and lawful teaching which applies to all people...a universal Savior. Written between 58 to 60 AD for Gentiles, the sick, the outcast and many others who were on the outside looking in.
The Gospel of John who is John the son of Zebedee whose theme is that Jesus is the Word of God, God Himself in the flesh. Written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in His name. Written in the late 90's AD for new believers and seekers of Jesus Christ.
Here are the facts, as much as I love reading these books, the writers are gone and have already lived their lives for Christ. But the Spirit of these words and the Savior of these people is alive. I believe many of us may spend too much time studying and hearing another interpretation and angle of these stories when the very Spirit of God is wanting to write another Gospel, The Gospel of YOU!
Your unique Gospel (story) with your own purpose, your own theme and personality. To reach and help people that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John cannot.... but you can. These Gospels aren't written in the church, they're written in the world where you live in Christ and He lives through you. GO and live a best seller!
