TWO COMMUNITIES 

This year, we once again held a Christmas Banquet to honor the ladies in our community. 

  BTG and Applebees in Loveland, gave out over 100 gifts to children of Single Moms. The ladies were also able to write a "wish list" for gifts given to them by Galilee Baptist a local church in Loveland. We felt they too deserved a gift as many of the moms go without to supply presents for their children. 

 

We expanded into the Denver area this Christmas and blessed 9 of our moms we have done home repair projects for in the past.  We gathered for a dinner in their honor and their families were all given Christmas presents as well thanks to the generosity of the staff at a company called Inspirato.

One mom wrote;

"I am grateful to have a blessed Christmas this year due to the selfless giving of BTG and Inspirato.  Words cannot express my thanks. All I know to do is pay it forward so you have my word that I will do that and  I will lead my children to follow suit"

  
 

The Boomerang Effect

 


A dear friend and BTG volunteer Vic, recently said, "Home Repairs lead to Heart Repairs." What a profound statement and one that put into words exactly what we hope to accomplish on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis. The amazing part of this is the heart repair is not just for the recipients of our work, namely the single moms and their children, But we the leaders, project managers and volunteers are invigorated by what we see first hand and experience when we go into the homes. We are impacted and moved by the reactions of those we help as well as the opportunity to pursue people with a sense of cause and mission to improve the quality of life for a family in need.

 

This Boomerang effect of going into a project to use our ability to repair a home, provide food for the family and the team, to come along side the mom or grandmother and offer support is all with a sense of pouring ourselves out in service, yet in reality it comes right back to us with much greater measure.
 
Tom, one of our project managers just completed a project for Amy, who is a single mom with two daughters. Here are his words.
    "Six individuals came into this home and did home repair with no strings attached.  Six individuals fulfilled God's commandment to love.  Note that we are commanded to love others not to feel love for others....I guess it must be more than a feeling??  Six individuals (men) were role models of what men can be in a home of women/children....maybe, they have no other role models or the ones they have are not the best.  
It is cool to think about the future impact of this repair and we will never know....until heaven.  I know there are many ways to show God's love.  Meeting physical needs is one way....and in the category of meeting physical needs, home repair for single moms is just one small way."
