What's New at www.ecoplum.com April 2013 Newsletter
|
Greetings!
It's almost Mother's Day! Yay! One of my favorite days of the year! I recently attended an event about food waste, moderated by Ron Gonen, the Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Department of Sanitation and co-founder of Recyclebank. Ron mentioned that the composting pilot, started by a few of my close friends in the District 3 Green Mom's group, would be expanding citywide!
That got me thinking - how many green initiatives are spearheaded by moms who are just trying to make the world a better place for their kids and their communities? I bet there are quite a lot! In honor of Mother's Day, for the entire month of May, EcoPlum will honor green moms who are taking amazing eco actions and changing our world for the better in our profile series called EcoPlum Salutes Green Moms. We encourage you to submit your own stories about inspiring green moms (maybe yours?) through EcoClipz or to submissions@ecoplum.com for longer articles.
In conjunction with this, we are running FREE SHIPPING on orders over $50 and 10% OFF e-gift cards through Mother's Day, May 12th. Our online shop has some of the best eco friendly gifts for moms anywhere, with beautiful fair trade jewelry, our newest line of eco friendly designer clothing from Ellecante, safe cosmetics, and fair trade coffee and chocolate. Our e-gift cards make great gifts with no paper, no waste and no returns!
Enjoy our articles from April including our new wellness column Holistic Muse, Dede's article about Matt Damon's Water.org, Silvia's suggestions for how to improve indoor air quality in your workplace, and Chryso's upcoming review of lip smacking eco friendly lip balms!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

EWG: Tom Collichio Wants to Require Genetically Modified Foods to be Labeled
As a chef and restaurateur, it's extremely important to me to know what I'm cooking with. Is it too much to ask to know what I'm really feeding my family?
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., will introduce a bill that would do what more than 90 percent of Americans want: require foods with genetically engineered ingredients to be labeled. Take action here!
