Fall 2012 Newsletter
Greetings!

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and that you have not suffered major losses from Hurricane Sandy. We are extremely fortunate here on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where we came through the storm relatively unscathed. It is heartbreaking to see the devastation in other parts of the tri-state area. My heart goes out to the communities that have seen so much destruction, like Breezy Point, the Rockaways, Staten Island, and the Jersey shore. My family and I have been doing whatever we can to help but we are always left wishing we could do more, or just make it all go away. We are inspired by the compassion and generosity of so many - like our friends at The Restaurant Group, who have turned their restaurants into donation centers, and have delivered thousands of boxes and bags of goods to the affected areas, and the churches and temples that are providing hot food to the homeless and hungry victims of this tragedy. If you are in the area and able to help, please take a moment to check on the elderly, many of whom are stuck in high rises with no power and no way to get food. Here are some other ways you can help with the Hurricane Sandy Relief and Recovery Efforts.

You may have noticed it has been a while since we reached out to you. Due to some personal issues I was not able to get a September or October newsletter out. So here we are, in the beginning of November.

It's the day after Election Day and President Obama has been reelected! As far as environmental issues go, he was clearly the better choice. Check out this blog post I wrote the day after the storm.  Reelecting the President may be the single most important thing we have done to make an impact on how prepared we for the climate changes ahead of us.

As always, we've included our usual columns on the things you can do in your every day life to green your home, use safe cosmetics, eat healthy food, contribute to a more sustainable environment and live a greener and healthier life.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Best regards,
