 Amazon Reserves Expanded to 2.3 Million Acres
With your help, we supported our Peruvian partner in protecting a further 148,410 acres of Amazonian rainforest through the expansion of the Matsés Communal Reserve, which lies beside the Matsés National Reserve we established in 2010. The combined reserves now protect 2.3 million acres for wildlife and indigenous Matsés communities.

2012 in Review: Success for WLT-US In 2012 we have helped save 162,693 acres of threatened habitat for wildlife across six countries and nine sites. From expanding the San Rafael Reserve in Paraguay to launching the new 7,076-acre Las Tangaras Reserve in Colombia, WLT-US has worked tirelessly to protect the most endangered species and tropical forests.

Following the establishment of the 12,300-acre Barba Azul [Blue-throated Macaw] Nature Reserve in 2010, saving forest islands and tropical savanna in northeastern Bolivia, researchers confirmed the presence of the rare Pampas Cat.
