Repent America Talks 'Morally Straight' Scouting
|
 Michael Marcavage of Repent America (RA) recently appeared on "Dom Time" with Dom Giordano in Philadelphia to discuss the Boy Scouts' proposal to permit open homosexuals as members in the organization.
Marcavage spoke on the television talk show about the law of God being the source and absolute standard for truth and morality, and how the constantly-changing opinions of men cannot serve to dictate right and wrong. As a former Boy Scout, he also noted that the Scout Oath states "I will do my duty to God and country ... to be morally straight" and discussed how the pledge affects the personal conduct of a scout.
The Boy Scouts of America, founded in 1909, was created to mirror the British Boy Scouts, and was stated by some to be a Christian organization. "Scouting is nothing less than applied Christianity," wrote British founder Sir Robert Baden-Powell in a 1917 publication entitled
Scouting & Christianity.
John L. Alexander, one of the founders of the Boy Scouts of America, also once said, "The Boy Scouts of America maintain that no boy can grow into the best kind of citizenship without recognizing his obligation to God. The recognition of God as the ruling and leading power in the universe, and the grateful acknowledgment of His favors and blessings is necessary to the best type of citizenship and is a wholesome thing in the education of the growing boy."
Sadly, the Boy Scouts of America has departed, and continues to further depart, from Biblical truth. Please pray that God will use the seeds planted during the television interview to result in a harvest of salvation, and that the Scouts will make a God-fearing decision during the week of May 20th when it votes on its proposal surrounding openly homosexual members.

Philadelphia Bar District Rages Against the Word of God

 God has raised up several young men to join Repent America (RA) in preaching the Gospel on the streets. Recently, the ministry declared the word of God in the Manayunk bar district in Philadelphia and preached outside of Manayunk Tavern, a popular nightlife attraction in the city. As the preaching went forth, an angry crowd began to gather to rage against God and His word, and one drunken man came out of a nearby house, calling upon God to strike him dead. A fight also broke out between a man and a woman over the ministry's presence. There was much mockery and disdain for Christ from passersby and others in the area as well. While not surprising, it was saddening to see the immense hatred for God pouring from the hearts of men. Please pray that those who heard the message will turn from their wickedness and put their trust in Jesus Christ.

Christ Exalted at One of Philadelphia's Largest Mosques

 Repent America (RA) recently exalted the name of Jesus Christ outside of one of the largest mosques in Philadelphia.
Director Michael Marcavage and other Christians visited Masjid al Jamia mosque in late April to share the Gospel with those attending an Islamic prayer service. Some of the Muslim men who heard the preaching stopped to engage the ministry in conversation and expounded on why they reject Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross. In turn, RA spoke the truth from Scripture about God's plan of salvation.
It was at this same mosque that University of Pennsylvania police officers attempted to silence the preaching of the Gospel three years ago after several Muslims became agitated at the public proclamation of Christ. In July 2010, both Michael Marcavage and evangelist Ken Fleck were arrested and jailed while conducting outreach on the public sidewalk, and a Philadelphia judge later found the men "not guilty" of any crime.
Please pray that those who heard the Gospel preached will put their trust in Jesus Christ as the the Messiah, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Freedom From Sin Proclaimed at Liberty Bell

 Repent America (RA) recently visited Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to visitors at the historic public site.
The word of God was passionately proclaimed to the hundreds present through preaching, one-on-one witnessing and tract distribution. Many listened to the message of the Gospel and engaged the ministry in individual discussion.
While conducting outreach at the park, a group nearby was celebrating National Pot Smoking Day (also known as "420 Day") on the lawn as visitors passed by with their children. The scent of marijuana was strong in the air, and some of those participating in the event professed to be Christians. Although park rangers were aware that illegal activity was taking place on federal property, they refused to act, citing that the group had been granted a permit for the event by park officials. Therefore, RA began preaching to the pot smokers and urged them to stop seeking satisfaction in marijuana, but to turn to Jesus Christ for salvation and freedom from the power of sin. In an article by J.D. Mullane of The Burlington County Times, Michael was quoted as stating, "I am here today to declare the truth of God's word in the hope that you would turn from your pothead ways and turn to Christ and live." Mullane outlined that he saw "two Americas on the mall: the old America of God-fearing independence, and the new America of pot-smoking decadence." Click here to read the article in its entirety.
