2016 NWPC ENDORSED CANDIDATES
The numbers of women holding elected office in California are at all time lows. Today, women comprise just under 30% of all elected officials at the city, county and state level. Of the 120 seats in the California Senate and Assembly, we hold less than 25% legislators, as only 1 in 4 seats is held by a woman. This year alone, four influential leaders will term out in the Senate -- Loni Hancock, Fran Pavley, Lois Wolk and Carol Liu -- and it is imperative that we hold those seats or risk an even further decline in representation. We will talk with some of the women who are at the forefront of the fight to hold the line on women's representation in elected office, including....

Janice is a lifelong advocate for women working as an attorney, community leader and founder of Jewish World Watch, an organization working to eradicate genocide in Africa and protecting women from being brutalized.  She has been endorsed by LA Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, former LA Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Assembly member Cristina Garcia, Los Angeles Councilwoman Nury Martinez and many others.

We will hear from recently elected, NWPC LA Westside endorsed Culver City School Boardmember Kelly Kent. After earning a neuroscience doctorate from USC, Dr Kent co-founded adaptED Consultants where she provides brain-based teacher professional development, parent education and student enrichment. Kelly is also a Professor of Psychology at Antioch University and Neuroscience at Moorpark College. Additionally, Kelly has served as a Culver City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commissioner for the past year. She was elected to the School Board last year.
