Slow computer?

When we get this complaint, here's what we look at
-
Is the computer capable of going faster? If the computer is more than 4 or 5 years old it is possible it does not have a powerful enough processor to run today's programs. This can be true with newer computers as well. Less expensive computers often come with substandard processors.
-
How many programs are starting up automatically and are running in the background? What kind of programs are you running when the computer is slow? The more programs you have open, the slower your computer is going to go. Many people don't realize how many programs are running on their computer.
-
Is there more than one user logged into your computer at a time? If you have more than one profile, make sure you log off when switching profiles.
-
Is the computer slow or is your internet connection/network slow? If your computer is slow on the internet, are other computers in your home/office also slow on the internet? If so, restart your router and modem. If that doesn't help, call your internet service provider and ask them to test your modem/line. If that doesn't help, call us.
-
Does just your computer have a slow internet connection? Check the addons for each browser that you use. Disable all the toolbars and addons except for Java, Adobe and your virus protection. This can make a big difference in internet speed.
-
Lastly, when is the last time you did a full virus scan? Do it now!
If your computer is running slow, it's probably time for a check up. Give us call
