helpfultips

  • When bringing in updates or downloading software (like the cool free stuff we recommended last week on our Facebook page) uncheck those little boxes that will bring in unwanted toolbars and software.

  • Manage your addons. When you launch your browser and get a prompt to enable or disable addons, DO IT! Disable all addons EXCEPT those related to Adobe, Sun, Java, and your virus protection. You will surf the net much faster and your screen will not be cluttered with those annoying toolbars.

Recycle responsibly
Need to get rid of some old computers?
This is what you need to know.
  • You can't put computers, printers or monitors out with the weekly garbage pick up anymore. It's illegal.
  • You can take it to an electronics recycling site. Wheaton has one the 2nd Saturday of every month. It's free, they take anything that plugs in (even Christmas lights) and you don't even have to get out of the car.

  • Make sure that you have wiped any personal information off your hard drive before you dispose of the computer. (Yes, we can help you with that)
  • If you are thinking of donating the computer, this is what you need to know.
    • The computer should be at least Window XPor newer
    • The computer should be in good working condition. This means it has a hard drive and can boot up.
    • The last thing a struggling family or organization needs is the stress caused by a crappy computer.

Need help deciding what to do with your technology when you are done with it?

Client of the month

We have the coolest clients. We decided we wanted to brag about the awesome people that we have the privilege to do business with.

Mark Mallon
We have been fixing Mark and his family's computer for years. A couple of months ago, while fixing his mom's computer, I asked her how Mark was doing as I hadn't heard from him in a while. That's because he is serving in Afghanastan. Mark's dad, who is just a little proud, happily shared this picture with us. Let's hear it for Mark!
