Learn Controlled Vocabulary and Thesaurus Design This December
Is your organization beginning a digital project soon? Do you need to learn more about controlled vocabularies and thesaurus design, or maybe just a refresher on the topic? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then Amigos has the perfect class for you this December. Scheduled for December 3 - 6, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. CST, Principles of Controlled Vocabulary & Thesaurus Design will prepare you to use existing controlled vocabularies or develop your own lists of specialized terms for specific applications in digital projects. Topics this online class covers include different types of controlled vocabularies, how to create controlled vocabulary terms, how to develop hierarchies of CV terms for thesauri, and methods of displaying controlled vocabularies to metadata creators and users. Amigos will be offering two informative Know & Go sessions in the coming weeks: 5 Apps to Use at the Reference Desk, and 10 Free Things to Improve Collection Care Now!

5 Apps to Use at the Reference Desk is scheduled for November 11 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. CST. Join Arta Kabashi, Continuing Education Librarian, for this hour-long session showcasing different apps that can be implemented to help you at the reference desk. Tips on their use for best results will also be covered. Come learn how to make good use of these resources at the reference desk. Register on the Amigos website.

 

10 Free Things to Improve Collection Care Now! is scheduled for November 25 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. CST. Join Gina Minks, Imaging & Preservation Service Manager, for this session that will address 10 free things that an institution can do to improve its collection care. These simple and easy activities will be helpful regardless of whether or not your organization is a public library with circulating collections or a special collection with rare materials. Register on the Amigos website.
