RDA Is Here, Are You Ready?
|
As of April 1, the Library of Congress and U.S. National Library of Medicine are using Resource Description and Access (RDA) as their official descriptive cataloging standard. Now that RDA is fully implemented in these national libraries, are you and your organization ready?
Amigos can help.
RDA Toolkit Discounts
Amigos Members are eligible for a 15 percent discount on RDA Toolkit subscriptions. This applies to both solo and site subscriptions. Details are available on the Amigos website.
Training
To help you get trained on RDA, Amigos has scheduled additional sessions of the popular Cataloging with RDA. This eight-hour live online class walks you through the basics of moving from AACR2 to RDA that include:
- Distinguishing between work, expression, manifestation, and item
- Building descriptions of resources using RDA Core elements
- Creating authorized access points using preferred names for persons, families, and corporate bodies, and preferred titles for works
- Articulating relationships between works, expressions, manifestations, and items and between resources and persons, families, and corporate bodies using RDA vocabularies
- Using the RDA Toolkit and workflows to identify rules relevant to describing resources and creating access points
