Brian Johnson, Senior Principal Services Architect for CA Technologies, founder of itSMF and published author next month! Brian was part of the UK government team that created the ITILŪ approach. Working for the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (now part of the Cabinet Office), Brian authored many of the first ITILŪ books (Capacity, Financial, Availability and Quality Management among them). He also designed and authored much of the ITILŪ business perspective series and version two of ITILŪ. He founded the ITILŪ user group itSMF (link to: http://www.itsmfusa.org/), and is an Honorary Life Vice President. His version one book, Software Lifecycle Support, written with software testing guru Richard Warden, covers the roles of IT operations and development in designing IT services, one of the central tenets of the version three ITILŪ books. The lifecycle approach he designed in v1 is now the recommended approach for users of ITILŪ. His ITILŪ v3 book, Information Lifecycle Support, was published in December 2010. Brian is an internationally known speaker, well versed in program and project management, structured systems analysis and design, organizational change, knowledge management and, of course, ITILŪ. Trick or Treat with the Chamber

It's that spooky time of year when little ones again don their favorite costumes and visit De Pere businesses for "trick or treats." The De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce's Trick or Treat event is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th from 10am until noon. Kids (and parents) love this event.  Children must be accompanied by an adult!

Construction has started on a new Cellcom retail location in Green Bay at 1620 W. Mason Street. The store will feature a repair center and is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2015. It will be the thirtieth retail location for the local wireless carrier. View full news release here. 


 

Country Visions Co-op is celebrating the opening of a new Cenex-branded store at 1221 Grant Street in De Pere, bringing helpful service and trusted fuels to the entire community. Grand opening events will start on Thursday, October 16th and conclude on Saturday, October 18th. Register for daily prizes, enjoy full service at the pumps, $2 discount on car washes, and in-store specials. In addition, Saturday will feature a cook-out from 10am until 2pm, free pumpkins for the first 150 kids, special prices and a free fill of window wash with gas purchase. Freedom House 11th Annual Celebration of Hope:
Tundra Lodge Resort & Waterpark, 865 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay, 6:30-10pm. Great food, great fun, great message. Join us they year for the 11th Annual Celebration of Hope and fear firsthand how all os us putting our puzzle pieces together creates a masterpiece of restored lives. Former resident, Miss Outstanding Teen Green Bay and staff will speak.

Parenting Classes:
Howe Community Resource Center, 526 S. Monroe, Green Bay, 10am-11:30am. Howe Resource Center is offering Parenting Classes. This program runs for three consecutive Tuesdays from 10am to 11am. The focus for parents with children from 1-5 years old. Learn new techniques that help parents provide guidance and education on how to use positive discipline, developmental expectations, and more. Saturday

5th Annual Africa Hope Run: East De Pere High School, 1700 Chicago Street, De Pere. The Africa Hope Run is a time-chipped 5k and 10k walk/run in De Pere. Registration is $30 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. Online registration closes on October 15th, but you can register in person on the race day with cash. Handcycles, wheelchairs and strollers start at 7:50am, 10k run/walk start at 8am, 5k run/walk start at 8:05am. All proceeds form the race will be used to provide clean water, food, education, and medical care to AIDS orphans and the poor of Malawi. 920-983-9090. 

YWCA Human Foosball: Leicht Memorial Park, 200 Dousman Street, Green Bay, 10am-4pm. The YWCA is hosting its first Human Foosball Tournament in Leicht Park. This is just like the table-top gave but YOU are the player! Teams of 6, $150 per team or $25 per person. Maximimum 16 teams. US 41 Project 
Lane Closures 
October 6th-October 10th


Drivers should anticipate various overnight single lane closures on southbound and northbound US 41 along the entire Brown County corridor from south of Glory Road to Lineville Road. Lane closures can vary along the corridor, so drivers are urged to stay alert, pay attention to road signs, slow down and use caution when entering any work zone. The US 41 Project plans to have at least one lane of traffic open at all times on both northbound and southbound US 41 during construction. This does not include closures by local authorities for accidents or unusual incidents (such as weather).

Lineville Road 60 day closure

 

Lineville Road (County M) interchange, including the Lineville Road bridge, will be CLOSED for 60 days starting Monday, August 18th. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes as early as 12am Monday morning. The interchange will be shut down for a maximum of 60 days.  

 

The closure includes:

  • US 41/Lineville Road interchange ramps
  • Lineville Road between West Deerfield and Lakeview Drive (County Road J)
  • Lineville Road intersection with West Deerfield Avenue
  • Lineville Road intersection with East Deerfield Avenue (note: only East Deerfield Avenue will be able to cross Lineville Road. East Deerfield will remain open for access to local businesses).

Alternate routes:

  • Use Lakeview Drive or County B as an alternate route across US 41.
  • USe County B and Velp Avenue interchanges for access to and from US 41 (note: Velp Avenue could experience heavy delays if used as an alternate route).

 

60-Day Packerland/Cardinal Lane Closure


Packerland Drive, including the WIS 29 exit-ramps to Packerland Drive, will CLOSE on Tuesday, September 2nd for up to 60 days to reconstruct the Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane interchange. Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane will be CLOSED between Holly Way and Duck Creek Parkway (Formerly Dousman Street). This new intersection will feature roundabouts at both ramp terminals and a roundabout at County RK and Packerland.

Elmburst Avenue/Cardinal Lane intersection will also CLOSE on Tuesday, September 2nd for construction of a roundabout. WisDOT will maintain a one-lane connection between Cardinal Lane and Duck Creek Parkway during the construction of the roundabout. Access to residents and businesses will also be maintained from Duck Creek Parkway throughout the closure.
