This weekend we had our Inaugural Live Healthy Brown County Health, Fitness, and Lifestyle Expo presented by Prevea Health at the KI Center. We would like to thank all our sponsors, vendors, the KI Center, and all those who attended! We greatly appreciate your time and support!

Chairman's Gala


We have set a date for our Chairman's Gala!! Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 9th from 5-9pm at The Swan Club in De Pere! We will be honoring our Chairman of the Board, Brad Toll, President & CEO of the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau and welcoming in our 2015 Chair of the Board, Chris Knight, President of SparkNET Interactive!! Stephanie Klett, Cabinet Secretary with the Department of Tourism will be our keynote speaker!

Community News
 
 De Pere's popular Downtown Soup Walk returns for a fourth year next Saturday, October 4th. The popular sampling event features 11 De Pere bars and restaurants, and 12 varieties of soup to sample. In this competitive event, attendees can sample soups at varying De Pere venues and vote for their favorites from 11am - 3pm on the day of the event. Tickets are $10 per person and there are only 200 available spots for purchase. A portion of all ticket proceeds goes to De Pere area food pantries. View full news release here. 

Brown County and the City of De Pere Health Departments are reminding the public that flu vaccinations are the single best way to protect yourself, your family and your community against the flu each year.  Symptoms of influenza illness include fever, headache, non-productive cough, sore throat, and runny nose.  Other complications could include pneumonia, ear infections, or sinus infections.  People who have underlying medical conditions are at greater risk to these complications.  View full news release here.

Feed My Starving Children:
Green Bay Community Church, 600 Cardinal Lane, Green Bay. Residents of the Green Bay area will come together to be part of a hunger solution to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world. Nine area churches will join Feed My Starving Children to prepare 350,000 life saving meals at the FMSC Mobile Pack on September 29-October 2nd at Green Bay Community Church.920-434-9225.

Pink Pumpkin 5k Run/Walk:  NWTC, 2740 West Mason Street, Green Bay, 10am. Join the Breast Cancer Family Foundation by supporting their mission of ending cancer through education. Astronomy Day: Bay Beach Amusement Park, 1313 Bay Beach Road, Green Bay, 7-10pm. The Neville Public Museum Astronomical Society will be setting up their telescopes and showing the public the moon, stars, and other deep sky objects. The event is free and open to the public. Weather dependent.

US 41 Project 
Lane Closures 
September 29th - October 3rd


Drivers should anticipate various overnight single lane closures on southbound and northbound US 41 along the entire Brown County corridor from south of Glory Road to Lineville Road. Lane closures can vary along the corridor, so drivers are urged to stay alert, pay attention to road signs, slow down and use caution when entering any work zone. The US 41 Project plans to have at least one lane of traffic open at all times on both northbound and southbound US 41 during construction. This does not include closures by local authorities for accidents or unusual incidents (such as weather).

Lineville Road 60 day closure

 

Lineville Road (County M) interchange, including the Lineville Road bridge, will be CLOSED for 60 days starting Monday, August 18th. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes as early as 12am Monday morning. The interchange will be shut down for a maximum of 60 days.  

 

The closure includes:

  • US 41/Lineville Road interchange ramps
  • Lineville Road between West Deerfield and Lakeview Drive (County Road J)
  • Lineville Road intersection with West Deerfield Avenue
  • Lineville Road intersection with East Deerfield Avenue (note: only East Deerfield Avenue will be able to cross Lineville Road. East Deerfield will remain open for access to local businesses).

Alternate routes:

  • Use Lakeview Drive or County B as an alternate route across US 41.
  • USe County B and Velp Avenue interchanges for access to and from US 41 (note: Velp Avenue could experience heavy delays if used as an alternate route).

 

60-Day Packerland/Cardinal Lane Closure


Packerland Drive, including the WIS 29 exit-ramps to Packerland Drive, will CLOSE on Tuesday, September 2nd for up to 60 days to reconstruct the Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane interchange. Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane will be CLOSED between Holly Way and Duck Creek Parkway (Formerly Dousman Street). This new intersection will feature roundabouts at both ramp terminals and a roundabout at County RK and Packerland.

Elmburst Avenue/Cardinal Lane intersection will also CLOSE on Tuesday, September 2nd for construction of a roundabout. WisDOT will maintain a one-lane connection between Cardinal Lane and Duck Creek Parkway during the construction of the roundabout. Access to residents and businesses will also be maintained from Duck Creek Parkway throughout the closure.
