Can you believe that Fall is here already?! It seems like we just skipped straight from Spring weather to Fall weather! Fall is such a fun time for families and for communities as there is lots of outdoor events. You can go apple picking, pumpkin patches, hay rides, to craft shows, to fall festivals, farmers markets, and of course, in just over a month is Halloween!! Our De Pere Farmers Market will carry on through October 16th so make sure you stop out at Seroogy's Chocolates in De Pere from 7am-12pm on Thursday's.

Next Tuesday is also Seroogy's Chocolates annual Open House in conjunction with our De Pere at Dusk! Feel free to stop by anytime between 4:30pm and 7pm and tour the chocolate factory and have some yummy chocolate snacks!

Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) announces this year's participants in the 2104 Energy Challenge.

 17 non-profit organizations will now be challenged to meet assigned tasks in energy efficiency and weatherization during the months of October and November.Results will be analyzed in December 2014 and the top three organizations that successfully complete the challenge and save the most energy will be awarded a $1,500 grant. A $1000 grant will be awarded to each of the other organizations that complete the challenge. View full news release here.  



Unity, leader in hospice and palliative care, today announced the addition of Patricia Angelucci, MS, RN, NE-BC, GNP-BC, Postmasters, to its medical team as a full-time nurse practitioner. Angelucci will work with other members of Unity's medical team to meet hospice regulatory requirements. She will also collaborate with Unity nursing staff and patients' primary care providers to support delivery of high quality end-of-life care. View full news release here.


Applications are now being accepted for the Innovative Educator Grant program sponsored by Wisconsin Public Service Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Wisconsin Public Service. The Innovative Educator Grant, now in its eighth year, is an opportunity for middle, junior high or high school educators to receive a grant up to $1,000 for new projects with an academic focus and goals to improve student achievement in the areas of science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). Please Join Fox Valley Humane Association for Tailgate 2014 on Thursday September 18th at the Grand Meridian in Appleton at 5:30pm until 9:00pm. This fun-filled evening brings together local restaurants to provide a wonderful night for our guests. 12th Annual New Franken Fire Department Run/Walk: New Franken Fire Department, 5077 E. Ronsmann Road, New Franken, 7:30am-12pm. 1-3-5 mile Run/Walk. Door Prizes and Refreshments.

MOVE 2014: Reforestation Camp, 418 Reforestation Road, Green Bay, 8-11am. $25.00 to participate. Register by Sept. 5, 2014 to receive a free t-shirt Everlasting Joy Int. is hosting a 2-mile walk through the beautiful Reforestation Camp trails to raise funds to dig a water well in a rural village in Southern Ethiopia for safe, healthy drinking water. People all over the world walk for miles everyday to gather dirty water for their families. To represent this, participants of MOVE 2014 will carry a bucket of water throughout the trail. Registration 8am. Walk begins at 9am.

First Annual Friends of the Poor Walk: Notre Dame Academy, 610 Maryhill Drive, Green Bay, 9-11am. FRIENDS OF THE POOR? WALK is a national special event that began seven years ago to raise awareness and funds for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The local Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Green Bay District Council, works with individuals and families to provide emergency food, help to keep the lights on and avoid eviction. This first annual, local event joins over 230 other FRIENDS OF THE POOR? WALKS across the United States in an effort to eradicate poverty.

Big Apple Fest: Oneida Cultural Heritage, 3703 Hillcrest Drive, Green Bay, 10am-4pm. Enjoy some good old, free, family fun! pick your own apples, horse and wagon rides, variety of foods to taste, live music, caramel apple making, apple cider press, historic log home tours, time period clothing, old time games, Oneida Farmers Market, and $200 best apple pie contest. The Fest will be in two locations: Oneida Apple Orchard, 3976 W. Mason Street, Oneida and Cultural Heritage. Free convenient shuttle service to all locations, so come on down, park your car and enjoy the day.

Rails and Ales Brewfest: National Railroad Museum, 2285 S. Broadway, Green Bay, 5-10pm. Guests are invited to stroll among the National Railroad Museum's full-size trains while sampling dozens of local and regional craft beers and wines, along with hors d'oeuvres. Guests will receive a sampling glass that is theirs to keep. The evening with feature entertainment, raffles and other prizes.

US 41 Project 
Lane Closures 
September 15th-19th


Drivers should anticipate various overnight single lane closures on southbound and northbound US 41 along the entire Brown County corridor from south of Glory Road to Lineville Road. Lane closures can vary along the corridor, so drivers are urged to stay alert, pay attention to road signs, slow down and use caution when entering any work zone. The US 41 Project plans to have at least one lane of traffic open at all times on both northbound and southbound US 41 during construction. This does not include closures by local authorities for accidents or unusual incidents (such as weather).

Lineville Road 60 day closure

 

Lineville Road (County M) interchange, including the Lineville Road bridge, will be CLOSED for 60 days starting Monday, August 18th. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes as early as 12am Monday morning. The interchange will be shut down for a maximum of 60 days.  

 

The closure includes:

  • US 41/Lineville Road interchange ramps
  • Lineville Road between West Deerfield and Lakeview Drive (County Road J)
  • Lineville Road intersection with West Deerfield Avenue
  • Lineville Road intersection with East Deerfield Avenue (note: only East Deerfield Avenue will be able to cross Lineville Road. East Deerfield will remain open for access to local businesses).

Alternate routes:

  • Use Lakeview Drive or County B as an alternate route across US 41.
  • USe County B and Velp Avenue interchanges for access to and from US 41 (note: Velp Avenue could experience heavy delays if used as an alternate route).

 

60-Day Packerland/Cardinal Lane Closure


Packerland Drive, including the WIS 29 exit-ramps to Packerland Drive, will CLOSE on Tuesday, September 2nd for up to 60 days to reconstruct the Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane interchange. Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane will be CLOSED between Holly Way and Duck Creek Parkway (Formerly Dousman Street). This new intersection will feature roundabouts at both ramp terminals and a roundabout at County RK and Packerland.

Elmburst Avenue/Cardinal Lane intersection will also CLOSE on Tuesday, September 2nd for construction of a roundabout. WisDOT will maintain a one-lane connection between Cardinal Lane and Duck Creek Parkway during the construction of the roundabout. Access to residents and businesses will also be maintained from Duck Creek Parkway throughout the closure. WIS 172

The following ramps will be closed:
  • Northbound US 41 ramp to WIS 172 will be closed on Monday from 6 to 11pm.
    • Northbound US 41 traffic seeking eastbound WIS 172 will be detoured off at Ashland Avenue, take Ashland Avenue north to Vanderperren Way, follow Vanderperren Way west to eastbound WIS 172 entrance ramp.
    • Northbound US 41 traffic seeking westbound WIS 172 will follow Ashland Avenue to Pilgrim Way and take Pilgrim Way to westbound WIS 172.
  • Westbound WIS 172 to northbound US 41 will be closed on Monday from 7pm to 7am
    • WIS 172 traffic seeking northbound US 41 will be detoured off at Pilgrim Way, take Pilgrim Way east to Ashland Avenue, follow Ashland Avenue north to Lombardi Avenue, and take Lombardi Avenue west to northbound US 41.
  • Southbound US 41 to eastbound WIS 172 ramp will be closed NIGHTLY on Tuesday through Friday from 8pm to 6am
    • Southbound US 41 traffic seeking eastbound WIS 172 will follow southbound US 41 to Oneida Street, take Oneida Street east to northbound US 41 and follow northbound US 41 to WIS 172.

Lombardi Avenue

 

The following ramps will be closed:

 

  • Northbound US 41 on and off-ramps to Lombardi Avenue will be closed NIGHTLY on Tuesday through Friday from 7pm to 6am. 

Shawano Avenue

 

The following ramps will be closed:

  • Northbound and southbound US 41 on and off-ramps at Shawano Avenue will be closed overnight on Monday from 9pm to 5am. WIS 29/US 41 free-flow flyover ramps will remain open.

I-43

 

The following ramp will be closed:

 

  • Northbound I-43 to northbound US 41 will be closed on Thursday from 8pm to 5am.
    • I-43 traffic seeking northbound US 41 will be detoured off at Atkinson Drive, take Atkinson Drive south to Velp Avenue, and follow Velp Avenue west to northbound US 41.
