New Member Spotlight

Unison Credit Union was founded in 1932 as Thilmany Credit Union; established to serve Thilmany Mill's employees and their families. At that time, the credit union, operating out of a small room in the mill, was strictly run by volunteer employees of the mill. The credit union provided Thilmany employees a place to save and borrow at a time when the nation's financial confidence was at an all-time low.  In 1975, they changed their name to Kaukauna Credit Union and grew from offering only savings and loans to a full service financial institution. Their field of membership was expanded to include residents of the City of Kaukauna. As they continued to grow, their field of membership changed over the years to include those living or working in Outagamie, Calumet, Brown and Manitowoc Counties and the cities and townships of Neenah and Menasha in Winnebago County. In order to welcome all members under one banner, Kaukauna Credit Union became Unison Credit Union in 2002.

They currently have four locations in Kaukauna, Wrightstown and Little Chute; as well as student branches in both Kaukauna High School and Little Chute High School. A new location is being built in De Pere to bring them to five locations this year. It will be located at 900 Main Avenue when it is complete.

Ransomware is a virus that takes over your device, encrypts your files and demands payment in order to restore full usage of your phone or PC. The desktop version of this is commonly called Cryptolocker and the Android/mobile version is called Simplocker or Simplelocker. Simplocker acts just like its desktop counterpart in that it encrypts your files, locks up the phone, and demands payment in order to unlock everything. This means that things like pictures, movies, or phonebook contacts could all be lost or unusable. The ransomware can infect your device through the downloading and installation of applications found outside of the Google Play store. It has not been found on Google Play. The PC version commonly spreads through email attachments. View full news release here.
