I made an oopys in last week's newsletter stating that this week's De Pere at Dusk at Nell & Associates, S.C. was "Tuesday, July 16th." The correct date is Wednesday, July 16th! My bad!! :)

This Wednesday's De Pere at Dusk is a networking opportunity and great time that you should NOT miss!! Bring colleagues, friends, you spouse, clients with you to this event!! It takes place from 5-7pm. They are located at 380 Main Avenue. Remember this is not just a member event, it is open to the public and it is FREE!!

Knights on the Fox" Summer Concert Series

"Knights on the Fox," returns this year for its twelfth season.The five-week series will be held on the St. Norbert College campus behind the Ray Van Den Heuvel Family Campus Center. The concerts will take place on Tuesday evenings beginning July 8 and ending with the last show on August 5. All five concerts are free and open to the public.  The series features musical performers and a picnic atmosphere. Sandwiches, snacks, bottled water and soda will be available for purchase or you can carry in your own picnic. The picnics begin at 5 p.m., followed by the concerts from 6:30-8 p.m.

The docks at the Thompson marina will be open for those who wish to come by boat. Ample parking is also available in the lots off of Third Street, with handicapped parking in the lot near Old St. Joseph Church.

2011 Farmer's Market
Farmers Market - De Pere  

Our annual summer market opens on July 10th!  Come to Seroogy's parking lot to find great locally grown fresh produce, flowers and herbs.  Every Thursday morning from July 10th through October 16th!

Yoga in the Park

This free, outdoor yoga class is perfect for all levels (no experience needed) and is free and open to the public!

Please bring your own water bottle and yoga mat. Children under 18 should be with an adult guardian.

In case of rain, the free class will be moved to: Flow Yoga Studio, 421 George St., De Pere. Due to space, indoor classes will be limited to the first 25 participants.

School of the Arts at Rhinelander

School of the Arts offers 50 workshops for adults in visual arts, mind/body/spirit, culinary arts and nutrition, performing arts, and writing. Craft your own mix of 1-, 2-, 3-, and 5-day workshops to explore and create in this warm, welcoming place. Yoga sessions, special events at the school, and activities in and around Rhinelander, round out the week.

Community News
 
Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) is again issuing a challenge to the community non-profit organizations in its customer service area to participate in the fourth annual WPS Energy Challenge. Up to fifteen selected non-profit community organizations could earn up to $1,500 for their energy conservation efforts, saving energy at members' homes and assisting community members in weatherizing their homes. Non-profits must apply before the August 22, 2014 deadline. Participating organizations from the WPS service area will undergo a qualifying selection process and be notified by September 3. Unison Credit Union is proud to announce plans for construction of their newest branch at 900 Main Avenue in the city of De Pere. "After careful consideration by our Board of Directors, this location was chosen to better serve our current membership and offer an attractive financial option for new members", says Mark Hietpas, CEO. The new building, which will be approximately 3,900 square feet, is being constructed by Keller, Inc., headquartered in Kaukauna. The full-service office will house 7 employees and feature 2 convenient drive-thru lanes and a drive-up ATM. Unison intends to break ground in late July and open the office in early 2015. 2014 marks the 50th year that the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation has been awarding scholarships to high school graduates. The winners were chosen from more than 350 students who applies for scholarships.
Over 120 scholarships were awarded with the recipients receiving more than $135,000. The Foundation has given more than $4.5 million in scholarships to students from Northeastern and Central Wisconsin and a portion of Michigan's Upper Peninsula since 1964.

No customer money is used to support the Foundation or its programs. Scholarships are funded by company stockholders.

US 41 Project 
Lane Closures 
July 14-18 


Drivers should anticipate various overnight single lane closures on southbound and northbound US 41 along the entire Brown County corridor from south of Glory Road to Lineville Road. Lane closures can vary along the corridor, so drivers are urged to stay alert, pay attention to road signs, slow down and use caution when entering any work zone. The US 41 Project plans to have at least one lane of traffic open at all times on both northbound and southbound US 41 during construction. This does not include closures by local authorities for accidents or unusual incidents (such as weather).

60-Day Closures

Shawano Avenue from Taylor Street to Packerland Drive was CLOSED on Monday, July 7 for a 60-day closure. All US 41 ramps at Shawano Avenue also closed on July 7 except for the northbound US 41 exit ramp to eastbound Shawano Avenue. That ramp will close Monday, July 28 for a maximum of 21 days within the 60-day Shawano closure.

WIS 29 detour is as follows:
  • Westbound WIS 29 will be detoured at Military Avenue, take Military south to Mason Street and Mason west to US 41 northbound and follow US 41 northbound to the new WIS 29 westbound flyover ramp.  
  • Eastbound WIS 29 will be detoured south on US 41 to WIS 172, take WIS 172 eastboudn to I-43 southbound to the WIS 29 exit.  

Oneida Street

 

The following ramps will be closed:

  • Southbound US 41 on-ramp from Oneida Street will be closed NIGHTLY on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7pm to 6am.  
  • Southbound US 41 off-ramp to Oneida Street will be closed Thursday and Friday from 7pm to 6am.  

WIS 172

 

The following ramps will be closed:

  • Southbound US 41 on-ramp from westbound WIS 172 will be closed NIGHTLY on Thursday and Friday from 8pm to 6am.  
    • Traffic will be detoured off at Pilgrim Way, take Pilgrim Way east to Ashland Avenue and follow Ashland Avenue south to US 41.  
  • Northbound US 41 on-ramp from westbound WIS 172 will be closed on Friday from 2 to 6am.  
    • Traffic will be detoured off at Pilgrim Way, take Pilgrim Way east to Ashland Avenue, Ashland Avenue north to Lombardi Avenue, take Lombardi Avenue west to US 41.  

WIS 29

 

Drivers can anticipate single lane closures on eastbound and westbound WIS 29 between Packerland Drive and County FF on Monday from 8am to 2pm.  

 

Velp Avenue

 

The following ramp will be closed:

  • Northbound US 41 on-ramp from Velp Avenue will be closed on Wednesday from 3 to 6am.  
    • Traffic will be detoured east on Velp Avenue to Atkinson Drive, take Atkinson Drive north to northbound I-43, and follow I-43 to northbound US 41.  

I-43

 

The following ramp will be closed:

  • Northbound US 41 on-ramp from northbound I-43 will be closed on Tuesday from 8pm to 5am
    • Traffic will be detoured at Atkinson Drive, take Atkinson Drive south to Velp Avenue, follow Velp Avenue west to northbound US 41.  

Lineville Road

 

The following ramp will be closed:

 

  • Southbound US 41 off-ramp to Lineville Road will be closed on Thursday from 7pm to 3AM.  

Local Roads

 

There will be a two-day, full closure of the Pilgrim Way and Ridge Road intersection starting Monday, July 14th through Tuesday, July 15th. In conjunction with this closure, the Pilgrim Way 30-day closure between Cormier and Ridge Road, which was expected to be complete next week, will be extended through the month of July. Both closures are due to storm sewer work that must take place at the intersection. Also, Morris Road between Pilgrim Way and North Road will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday from 9pm to 7am to set girders at US 41.
