This seminar will help you determine the factors that cause preventable incidents and recommend effective corrective actions. Students will participate in mock accident exercises.

This class examines accident (incident) investigation and analysis as a means to improve safety performance, preventing injuries, property damage and financial losses. Path to Leadership at De Pere at Dawn

De Pere's Premier Morning Networking Event Goes Personal! The Personal "Path to Leadership" that is! Are you are an emerging, high potential or mid-level leader from any private, public, or not-for-profit organization wishing to understand and enhance your personal leadership style so that you can improve your overall performance?  Are you a business owner or manager with promising staff?  Many business owners and managers give little thought to staff education. They do not think it is part of their role, or if they do, they never have time to get around to it or have a "large enough" budget for it.  If you have not given staff development much thought or think it does not affect your practice or patients, this article is for you. You have an important role in staff development: establishing its priority, encouraging it by example, and supporting it in your attitude and budget. The truth is that if staff education and development are not a priority for the owners and managers, they will not be a priority for anyone under them.

The DPACC Summer Path to Leadership Series is a cost-effective, time-respectful program. 90 minutes a month for 2 months and early in the day to interfere very little with your business day.  2 topics will be covered each month.

During the summer months, Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) employs college students as summer field technicians to perform a variety of tasks to help keep the electric and natural gas infrastructure safe and reliable. They perform inspections of WPS equipment and meters on customer property and also install informational signs on poles. Therefore, customers may see them in yards and on the roadways. All of the students have WPS ID badges, wear WPS vests and drive WPS marked vehicles. Students are inspecting WPS meters and services to ensure they are in good working order. Customers may see the students and/or vehicles in their neighborhoods and are advised to call WPS if they are unsure of anything regarding their electric or natural gas service. In the past week, a fatality and a near fatality have occurred due to people seeking recreational activities below hydro-electric dams operated by Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) on the Peshtigo River. In one instance a young man drowned while swimming below the Caldron Falls dam; in the other, a kayaker nearly drowned in the rapids below the Peshtigo Dam. The company also posts signs warning of the danger, but the signs are sometimes ignored by people seeking the thrill of recreating in the rough water below dams. Conditions near the dams can be especially dangerous in spring following the snow melt and after periods of heavy rain in which the dams must release more water into the rivers to keep reservoirs at the appropriate level. Unity, Northeast Wisconsin's leader in hospice and palliative care, is pleased to share its annual report, Tribute, with the community. The report highlights 2013 program activity, statistics and community care expenses incurred in providing hospice, palliative and bereavement care throughout twelve counties in Northeast Wisconsin.
$1.1 million in Community Care was provided to 795 under- and uninsured patients in need of financial assistance. Community Care dollars were used to cover costs associated with Unity's sliding-fee scale based palliative care and hospice care programs, as well as room and board at Unity's Jack and Engrid Meng Hospice Residence, all of which were not reimbursed by Medicare. With continuing declines in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, coupled with a growing patient base, Unity's need for Community Care is expected to increase. Unity has never denied service due to an inability to pay. View full news release here.

The Peregrine Falcon population in Northeastern Wisconsin grew by three as it was another successful year for hatching at the Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) Pulliam Power Plant. Inside the nesting box high on top of the roof of the electric generating power plant at the mouth of the Fox River in Green Bay, three new baby chicks were hatched this spring. The chicks were banded and registered on June 6. The chicks were given their names through the WPS sponsored "Name the Chick" contest as area school children submitted names and a panel of local judges selected the winners. The students that submit the winning names are then invited to meet their bird and watch as their chick is registered and banded. View full news release here.
