Cellcom Warns How To Avoid Scams

The first step to keeping your personal information safe is being aware that there are a lot of types of scams out there. You may have heard of phishing scams before, but you should also add vishing and smishing to your vocabulary list. Each of these is a type of scam that attempts to acquire your personal information for potential misuse.
Phishing is the act of trying to acquire personal information by impersonating a trustworthy source in an email or instant message. Vishing is the telephone version of phishing (or voice phishing) where scammers attempt to acquire personal information through an often computer-generated phone call. Smishing is the text message version of phishing (or SMS phishing) when a text, often containing a fraudulent URL or phone number, is sent in an attempt to acquire personal information. To protect yourself and your personal information there are a few simple tips that you can follow. Do not give out information such as your social security number, credit card account number, passwords or bank account information to any incoming caller. Most companies will not request this information unless you initiate the call. If you receive an "urgent" voicemail, text or call about an account, defer to the phone number on your credit card, statement, or the company website to call and check your account status. Do not click on suspicious links, open attachments that you were not expecting or visit links from unknown sources in an email or text message.

US 41 Project Lane Closures for October 21st-25th

US 41

Drivers should anticipate various overnight single lane closures on southbound and northbound US 41 along the entire Brown County corridor from south of Scheuring Road to Lineville Road. Lane closures can vary along the corridor, so drivers are urged to stay alert, pay attention to road signs, slow down and use caution when entering any work zone. The US 41 Project plans to have at least one lane of traffic open at all times on both northbound and southbound US 41 during construction. This does not include shutdowns by local authorities for accidents or unusual incidents (such as weather).

Hansen Road is closed between Ridge Road and Vernon Road until August 2014.

Oneida Street

Drivers can expect overnight closures on the northbound US 41 on and off-ramps at Oneida Street from Monday, October 21 through Friday, October 25 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for sewer installation. In addition, drivers can expect various lane closures on eastbound and westbound Oneida Street under US 41 throughout the week from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

WIS 172

Throughout the week, westbound WIS 172 between Ashland Avenue and Babcock Road will have single lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for grading operations. The northbound US 41 off-ramp to eastbound WIS 172 will be closed from Monday, October 21 to Friday, October 25 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for sewer installation.  The following detour will be in place:

  • Northbound US 41 traffic seeking eastbound WIS 172 will be detoured off at Ashland Avenue, take Ashland Avenue north to Vanderperren Way, follow Vanderperren Way west to the eastbound WIS 172 entrance ramp
  • Northbound US 41 traffic seeking westbound WIS 172 will take Ashland Avenue north to Pilgrim Way and follow Pilgrim Way to westbound WIS 172

In addition, the westbound WIS 172 ramp to southbound US 41 will be closed Monday through Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge demolition.  The following detour will be in place:

  • Westbound WIS 172 traffic seeking southbound US 41 will be detoured north on US 41, exit at Lombardi Avenue, take Lombardi Avenue west to southbound US 41 on-ramp and follow southbound US 41 to westbound WIS 172

WIS 29

Drivers can expect a full closure of eastbound and westbound Larsen Road under US 41 on Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. for bridge demolition.

I-43/US 41 interchange

Drivers can anticipate a full closure of the northbound I-43 ramp to northbound US 41 on Monday, October 21 through Friday, October 25 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured as follows:

    • Northbound I-43 traffic seeking northbound US 41 will be using the Leo Frigo alternate route on Velp Avenue and follow Velp Avenue west to US 41

There will also be a full closure of the northbound US 41 to southbound I-43 ramp on Monday, through Friday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured as follows:

    • Northbound US 41 traffic seeking southbound I-43 will take Velp Avenue east

Hansen Road bridge closed in Brown County

The Hansen Road bridge will be closed to vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic starting at September 3, at 6 a.m. The closure is required to accommodate reconstruction of the US 41 mainline and construct the new bridge. The bridge is expected to be re-opened in August 2014.

WisDOT has accelerated construction schedules to limit the bridge closure to one year.  During the closure, traffic will use Ridge Road and Waube Lane/Oneida Street as an alternate route.  Green Bay Metro will continue to provide bus service throughout the area.   Work will include:

  •  Demolishing the Hansen Road bridge
  • Constructing  the new US 41 Mainline when the existing Hansen Road bridge piers are removed
  • Shifting traffic onto the newly paved US mainline
  • Constructing the new Hansen Road bridge

Starting on Thursday, September 12, drivers can expect a long-term ramp closure of the eastbound WIS 172 to northbound US 41 ramp. The closure is needed to reconstruct the ramp and is to be completed in February 2014.  Traffic will be detoured as follows:

  • Eastbound WIS 172 traffic wanting to exit to northbound US 41 will take eastbound WIS 172 and exit at Ashland Avenue/Vanderperren Way, take Vanderperren Way west to Holmgren Way, follow Holmgren Way north to Pilgrim Way and take Pilgrim Way east to westbound WIS 172 on-ramp to northbound US 41.

WIS 29

Drivers can expect various overnight single lane closures on eastbound and westbound WIS 29 from County J to Taylor Street throughout the week.

WIS 29 on-ramp modification

Ramp modifications for drivers exiting northbound US 41 onto WIS 29/Shawano Avenue and traffic entering northbound US 41 from WIS 54/Mason St. will start Thursday, August 22 at 6 a.m. The new location for the WIS 29 northbound off-ramp will be further south near the Mason Street overpass. WIS 29 traffic can safely exit from northbound US 41 near Mason and use the new collector/distributer lanes to access WIS 29/Shawano Ave.

The northbound US 41 on-ramp from Mason St. will continue to use the roundabout to enter northbound US 41 and merge with traffic exiting to WIS 29. The Mason St. on-ramp traffic will follow the collector/distributer lanes, cross WIS 29, and access northbound US 41 via the US 41 entrance ramp from WIS 29. The ramp modifications are necessary to enhance safety during construction on US 41. The ramp modifications are expected to be in place for six to eight weeks.
