Hwy 41 Project Update
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speed limit going up on US 41 in southern Brown County
Stretch of highway opening to three lanes
(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region office in Green Bay is announcing the speed limit on southbound US 41 will permanently return to a 65 mph speed limit between County Road G and Orange Lane by Wednesday, August 21. It had been 55 mph due to US 41 Project construction. The stretch of highway will also open to three full lanes of traffic. Northbound US 41 in this area will remain 55 mph because the Scheuring Road bridge repair work is ongoing.
The increase is possible due to the construction finish on the County Road G to Orange Lane portion of the US 41 Project. Crews began work on that portion in March of 2012. It finished on time and on budget. The remaining work on US 41 in Brown County is on time and on budget. For all the news, schedule and scope of the US 41 project staging areas, visit www.us41wisconsin.gov.
Please note: US 41 between County G and Velp Avenue remains 55 mph in both directions due to US 41 Project construction. Additionally, no speed limit will officially change until the 65 mph speed limit signs are posted. Motorists are reminded to remain alert and use caution when traveling through this or any work zone.
