Where to Watch

Fans The Swim

Watch the world's best triathletes emerge from the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay at Marina Green Beach on the Golden Gate Bridge side of St. Francis Yacht Club and cheer them on along Marina Blvd as they make their way to the transition at Marina Green.

Fans The Bike

Mounting their bikes at Marina Green, participants will begin their 18-mile ride heading west to Crissy Field. You can cheer on your favorite athlete as they cycle along Marina Blvd. For all you future triathletes, you can bike your way through the Presidio or Golden Gate Park and await riders at the Palace of the Legion of Honor.

Fans The Run

Serving as the bike and run transition as well as the Finish Area, Marina Green is THE best seat in the house at the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. You will be able to support and cheer athletes as they run along Marina Blvd. Grand stands will line the Finish Chute giving a perfect view of the Finish Line where you will be able to join in the celebration as athletes complete their ESCAPE from Alcatraz!

Where to Park

For those of you who know the San Francisco area... parking is a SCARCE resource and the same is true for this event. There will be NO parking at Marina Green on Saturday or Sunday and NO parking along Marina Blvd on Sunday (race day).  Cars in violation will be towed so please be careful of all no parking signs.

There will be very limited parking at Crissy Field, just west of Marina Green. This is a public parking lot and can fill up quickly on the weekends. On Sunday, this lot will not be accessible between 6:30AM and 11:00AM because of the race course closure so get there early and be prepared to leave no earlier than lunch time. Again, this is a public lot so there are no guarantees that space will be available when you arrive.

There is also limited parking on the streets in the Marina neighborhoods just south of Marina Green. Please read all parking signs carefully to ensure you won't be towed.

Our suggestion is to walk, bike, or take public transportation to the race. San Francisco has some great options for public transportation.

Fun in San Francisco

While you are in San Francisco, there are plenty of sights to see. Here are a few ideas (the items listed below have no official association with the race):

Bicycle Transport
Shipping your bike to the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon is made EASY
by the help of TriBike Transport and Sports Basement. The following are
two great options to choose:

  • TriBike Transport - Ship your bike FULLY ASSEMBLED through TriBike Transport. Your bike will be securely transported in a large cargo van with other bikes and delivered directly to the Sports Basement (1 mile from the event site) and returned to you using the same method.

You will need to make your arrangements with TriBike Transport before tomorrow, February 15th.

  • Sports Basement Ship directly to Sports Basement - Ship your bike disassembled to the Sports Basement where bicycle technicians will receive and assemble your bike for the race. Return to Sports Basement following the race to have your bicycle disassembled and shipped to your home.
We Need Volunteers!
Volunteers This race would not be possible without hundreds of amazing volunteers!
There are many opportunities and roles as a Volunteer within this great race.  Some of the "best seats in the house" belong to our amazing and helpful volunteers.  And did you know that volunteering can INCREASE your chances of being selected in next year's lottery!

We Want Your Story!
Do you have an interesting or heartwarming story about your participation in or your relationship with the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon? have you overcome impossible odds to join us on race day? Are you celebrating a milestone during the event? We want to hear your story!
