All is well in the Body Temple Studio. I hope you, too, are having a fantastic summer.

We are now accepting credit cards! After many requests and years of consideration, we have decided to raise our rates to accommodate the cost and give a cash/check discount. 

So, if you pay with cash or check NOTHING CHANGES.

Wednesday night yoga and Tuesday morning prenatal exercise are ongoing. There are spaces available for you to join us. We are also ready to add an intermediate/advanced yoga class. Please scroll down to read more about our on going class offerings. We hope to see you in the studio again soon!

Join us at any stage of your pregnancy, or between 6 weeks and 12 months after your baby arrives, for some fun fitness training! Liz will guide you through safe and personalized stations for a gentle cardio-vascular and light strengthening exercise circuit. We end with 10 minutes of stretching and have a blast!

Have you ever wanted to try yoga but you are afraid of getting hurt or worsening your current physical condition? This class offers a safe space to learn how you can do yoga to improve your condition! It feels like giving yourself a massage and you will walk out of class with life-changing tools to feel better!

NEW: Intermediate/Advanced Yoga:

7:15 - 8:15 pm
This new class is for those who have studied with Liz and have moved out of the acute-phase of injury. These students can safely demonstrate neutral spine and have mastered the 3 basic breathing techniques.

Finally, for the summer season, I have added to a blurb I wrote in 2011 about the joy of summer. Enjoy!

Summer Element- Fire

 

TCM Meridians: 

Heart, Small Intestine,

Pericardium, Triple Warmer 

 

Ayurvedic Element:

Fire / Pitta  

Chakra: Solar Plexus

 

The four Fire meridians run to and from the trunk and finger tips. When you hug someone, you are simultaneously stimulating acupressure points along these 4 Fire Meridians! Summer is the time to celebrate Joy, Love, Happiness, and Laughter. Is there a better way to share joy and harmony than to give a hug?

 

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the fire meridians rule our body temperature, circulation, inner joy, growth, and communication. 

 

In Yogic Medicine, Ayurveda, the Fire element is held as a flame in our Solar Plexus, the Third Chakra between the navel and the heart. When we hug someone, we are also stimulating our fire center. 

 

The Solar Plexus is the seat of our confidence and where we balance our emotions. 

 

If you are experiencing a lack of joy, try standing up and gently interlacing your hands behind your back and slowly stretch open your fire meridians. Breathe into your solar plexus. Do you feel the joy returning?

 

Summer is the time of the year when the fruit of our labors is ripening. The crops are bearing fruit and our personal projects mature in the sunlight. So get out there and exercise, pick some fresh fruits and vegetables, and enjoy the light!

 

Arms are for hugging.
