Prosperity And Poverty Are Mindsets

Though ministers in New Thought churches preach
and teach prosperity theology many of our members experience a lack in their finances. Why is that? I have sought an answer to this question, for quite some time. What I have concluded is that the root cause of these ideas of lack, come to a large extent, from our early programming. Since childhood, we received messages implicitly and explicitly through words spoken around the dinner table or from what we were bombarded with by the media which established our mindsets.

Deep within the recesses of many of our minds some
old tapes are still playing reminding us of our financial fate which doesn't include being wealthy. Our minds have been programmed in such a way that we are kept in financial bondage and our subconscious thoughts controlled by the spirit of poverty. Our prosperity or poverty imprint is embedded in our subconscious mind and actually determines our thoughts, attitudes and actions about money and wealth.

If we want to change the fruits, we first have to change the roots. This instruction applies to
health, relationships and well-being too, not just money. There are five key elements of change that are required to change our programming:

Awareness - acknowledging our early programming.
Understanding - knowing where our thinking originates.
Disassociation - separating ourselves from our early messages if they conflict with our desires for health, wealth and well-being.
Reprogramming our minds through affirmations which change our mindsets by statements that express plenty. No particular affirmation will raise one from poverty to affluence yet all affirmations that carry ideas of abundance will lead us into the consciousness that fulfills the law. Deny that lack has any place in our thoughts and affairs and affirm plenty as the only appearance.
We must have faith in the All-providing Substance of Good and by our continuity of imagination, set it to form the things we desire. If we are persistent in working this idea in our conscious mind, it will eventually drop down into our subconscious mind and continue to work there in the roots, where things take form and become manifest as our fruits. We will become more prosperous and successful so gradually, simply and naturally that we will not realize that it derives from the Divine Source in answer to our prayers.

Though we live in turbulent economic times, those of us who understand the principles that govern Spirit's economic system and are found faithful in applying these principles will and do experience supernatural blessings.

Prosperity is not wholly a matter of capital or environment but a condition brought about
by a dominance of certain thoughts and ideas that have been allowed to rule our consciousness. According to Charles Fillmore in his writing on Prosperity he states, "We must realize that whatever we put as seed into the subconscious soil will eventually bring forth after its kind. As we sow in mind so shall we reap in manifestation." Fruits of poverty or fruits of prosperity: be aware of what seeds you are planting.

FREE Education and Services in the Healing Arts

The Intuitive Wellness Fair (IWF) convenes area instructors, practitioners, and educators who provide free introductory services and workshops in proven-effective practices for optimal physical and mental health. The Spiritual Empowerment Center (SEC) host its 2^nd Annual Intuitive Wellness Fair on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 8am to 4pm.

Join us as we learn and practice the benefits of yoga, meditation, and QiGong; experience delicious Ayurvedic and vegetarian cooking demonstrations. Allow our practitioners to relieve your stress with reflexology, Reiki, herbal remedies or acupressure.

"With health care costs spiraling upward we can take a more active approach to our physical, mental and spiritual well-being," said Kim H. Walker, RScP and Chairman of SEC's Leadership Council. "We call the practices 'intuitive' because the body is intelligent and is self-healing. When we listen to its signals and tend to them in a timely manner, we take charge of our own healing."

Participating institutions include practitioners from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly Tai Sophia Institute), Baltimore City Health Department, the Baltimore School of Massage, Health Revolution Ayurveda, Sandy Woods Boot Camp, Healing Light Vibrations, Simple Wellness Day Spa, in addition to SEC's own healing arts practitioners.

The IWF uses Baltimore-area professionals and resources which provides attendees with permanent access to key wellness services.

"As Baltimore City slowly creeps to top of nearly every illness chart in the country, SEC provides empowering information, instruction, and practices that are beneficial for optimal health and that increase the total well-being of the community," said Ms. Walker.

Membership at the Spiritual Empowerment Center (SEC) is an important step in one's commitment to the Spiritual Empowerment Center and to oneself. Membership fosters a sense of ownership and allows individuals to become invested in their spiritual community. All new members must attend the New Members' Orientation which is held every few months. This meeting is a dialogue allowing prospective members to ask any questions they have about SEC and the Science of Mind philosophy.

The orientation meeting educates prospective members on the history of New Thought and the powerful individuals who contributed to its growth. The meeting also highlights how Science of Mind is different and similar to Unity, Christian Science and Divine Science. All new members receive an orientation booklet and coupons for discounts for classes and merchandise from the bookstore.

Session 1 Recap - Cultivating a Wealthy Mindset

In the first of three sessions hosted monthly this summer at Spiritual Empowerment Center (SEC), Rev. Johanna Dolan opened the Wealth Fitness Workshop Series with a metaphysical discussion about wealth entitled Piece of Mind.

These notes are from that very inspiring lecture:

Unlike what is held as the common truth that all that we can be certain of is death and taxes, the Truth is God promises life and prosperity. What we think and prosper in is our prayer back to God. Money is a way of measuring our beliefs.
The root chakra holds where we are always grounded - if we believe it, it is within us here. The sacral chakra holds our creative and expansive energy. The bigger we become, the more we expand, the greater resources we build to serve others.
M.O.N.E.Y. - my own natural energy yield.
Also connected with sacral energy is procreation and sex - from a metaphysical perspective sex and money are the same in that these are two ways in which we express ourselves reveals who we really are. Be aware of how you are in each realm.
Energy is everything, and everything is energy. From this perspective both energies (sex and money) require our intention and direction. The energy behind our intentions creates what we have.
Financial stewardship directs our energy towards financial power, so hold faith in Spirit.

Blocking this (financial) flow of creativity causes problems. If we think "retaliation" we block ourselves. If your spirit is depressed, you have learned to press it down, to supress it. Poverty is a direct result of spiritual depression, and is a symptom of that fear.
Part of being a steward is being a gardener, from the inside out!! So tend to the thoughts that you hold in your mind. Are they of poverty, woe and lack or are they of creativity and abundance?
Everything in the American financial system has GOD in it, acknowledging that energy at all times is coming from Source!
If you can't do it for yourself, find someone who can speak prosperity for you!

I will pull my weeds, till my soil, plant my seeds and cultivate my garden - this is the wealthy mindset, financial stewardship as a conscious and intentional practice.
It is Truth that you always have more than you need.
Over time, learn how to garden. Take care of your birthright - remember prosperity can be poor or abundant!!
