Teton Halo

Greetings!

Beautiful and majestic are how we describe our little piece of heaven in the Tetons!  Snow covered valleys and hills make for picturesque sunrises and sunsets, such as the one shown above.   Each new week provides for more opportunities to get out and stay active while enjoying the scenery and atmosphere.  The ice arena is now in full operation offering open skating, lessons and hockey leagues for all ages; many head to Grand Targhee to enjoy the POW and all that the resort has to offer, while others choose to make their own way snowshoeing or backcountry skiing in untouched paradise.  All the while, wonderful events such as the Great Snowfest are organized, providing us with the opportunity to gather in festivity with neighbors, families and friends.

Yes indeed, what an amazing life here in Teton Valley!  Thank you all for being a part of it!

Best Wishes,

Lisa and Jay

WEEKLY FITNESS TIP

Choosing the Proper Running Shoe

Running injuries such as shin splints, stress fractures, and tendonitis can be a result of many different factors, including improper training, running terrain, and insufficient recovery.  In addition, studies have shown that many injuries are caused by improper shoe selection.  "Shoe selection is an extremely important factor because it can either enhance or diminish the negative effects of other factors" Megan Advani, PT, MPT.

Choosing the right shoe is an individualized process based upon foot mechanics and running form.  It can be the determining factor of one's overall performance. Prior to making a purchase, it is important to research various types and styles of shoe and determine your own personal body mechanics and running form.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, or would like the work done for you, the experts at Dreamchasers can help.  We carry a wide range of shoes for different body mechanics and running forms.  Come in for a free analysis of your personal running dynamics and a recommendation of the shoe just right for you.  To better assist you, please bring in your current running shoe as part of the analysis to allow us to analyze it for wear and support preferences.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Napa Cabbage
This week's recipe is brought to you by Snowdrift Farms, a certified organic farm located in the heart of Teton Valley, Idaho.  Snowdrift Farms offers a community supported agriculture program.  For additional information visit the Snowdrift Farms website at:  snowdriftfarm.org

Simple Napa Cabbage Stir-Fry

2 tsp oil (sesame or olive)
1 clove garlic, minced
2-3 green onions, chopped
1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
1 head napa cabbage, coursely chopped
1 Tbs soy sauce or tamari
1 Tbs rice vinegar
2 Tsp toasted sesame oil

In a large, deep skillet heat oil, add garlic, green onions and ginger, saute.  Add cabbage and saute briefly until it begins to wilt.  Next, add the soy sauce and vinegar, cook for a few more minutes until cabbage wilts.  Remove from heat, drizzle with toasted sesame oil.
