Teton Fall Reflection

Greetings!

Our hearts are heavy as we continue to watch the devastating effects from Hurricane Sandy on the east coast.  As you may or may not be aware, before moving to the Tetons we resided in the New York/New Jersey area.  We have been in continuous communication with the many friends that we consider family from the region and their needs are many.  Many have been told to evacuate their homes leaving behind even the most necessary of items.  They are in desperate need of coats, gloves, sweaters, blankets, WHITE tube socks, underwear (in all sizes), contractor bags, flashlights and batteries. If you can help provide any of these supplies, please drop them by Dreamchasers in Driggs during the following hours:  Thursday 9 -5 , Friday 9-5 or Saturday 9-3.  We only have three days to get the supplies together!

Our wonderful friend and mentor Sister Marybeth Lloyd is in New Jersey right now personally delivering supplies to all the places needed.  Any supplies brought into Dreamchasers will be sent directly to Sister Marybeth for distribution. You may also send supplies directly to Sister Marybeth (or contact her via email for more details: srmelloyd@gmail.com

Alternatively, several people are walking, running or doing anything active and collecting donations for $1 per mile. I plan to cover 120 miles by Thanksgiving (my goal) so I donated $120. $1 makes a difference. The link to make a donation is below. 100% of the money raised will be donated to families that have lost everything. YES..we are a 5013C.
Friends...please join us. Run or walk as many miles as you can until Thanksgiving. 1 mile, $1. Change a life.

Thank you all. Much love,

Running Tip of the Week

Weekly running tips are provided by Damion Stoy, Dreamchasers own chi running certified instructor and accomplished ultra marathon runner.  Techniques learned in chi running help you to run injury free with less impact and reduced effort. By utilizing the chi running techniques and natural movement, you will learn to run more efficiently and have more fun.

Running Tip #1: A cadence (steps/min) between 170 - 180 is ideal whether walking or running.  A higher cadence results in less heel striking, over striding and excessive up and down movement. Using a metronome is one of the easiest ways to learn to run more efficiently, reduce injuries and decrease impact.
Weekly Recipe

Bok Choy Image This week's recipe is brought to you by Snowdrift Farms. Snowdrift Farms is a local organic farm who's mission aims to be a model organic farm providing the highest quality food and educational experiences to the Teton Counties. They seek to implement the most labor and energy efficient farming methods utilizing solar and wind energy alternatives. Visit www.snowdriftfarm.org to learn more.

4 Minute Bok Choy Stir Fry

Serves 3 - 4

1 lb Bok Choy                                   1 tsp grated fresh ginger
1 red bell pepper                               1/2 tsp sesame oil
Splash of cooking oil                         Splash of soy sauce
1-2 cloves garlic                                Hot pepper flakes to taste

Prepare the Bock Choy:  trim off the very end of the stem.  Pull the stalks apart and clean under cool running water; drain.  Cut the thick stem into 3/4 inch diagonal slices; cut the leaf part, with the stems still intact, into strips.  Cut up the bell pepper into similar sized chunks.  Finely mince garlic and grate fresh ginger.  Heat wok or frying pan with oil on medium-high heat.  Add garlic, ginger, pepper and stocky part of the Bock Choy.  Gently sizzle the oil for 1 minute.  When the aromatics become fragrant, add the bok choy leaves.  Toss very well to coat each leaf with the garlicky, gingery oil for 15 seconds.  Pour in soy sauce, sesame oil and hot pepper flakes.  Immediately cover and let cook for another 20 seconds.  Remove from burner.  ENJOY!
