Microsoft Office 2013
Office 2013 has been upgraded to incorporate a new 'modern' interface in line with the new style of Windows 8 which we talked about in our last newsletter. It is more cloud based than Office 2010 allowing you to sync documents between devices and save documents directly to your SkyDrive account. Documents can be accessed via the internet anytime anywhere. It's all about time saving and making life easier for those who need to share and edit the same documents.
We've also changed the content and layout of our courseware by taking more of a holistic approach. You won't notice a huge amount of difference but we've tried to de-clutter chapter titles and free them from computer jargon where possible. The headings are now more personable and individual with an emphasis on doing things. We hope you like the new style, please let us know!
Microsoft Word 2013
There are some great new features in Word 2013. Word has now become more of a desktop publishing application than ever before by allowing you to drop in photos and online videos with ease. PDF files can now also be opened and edited straight from Word. The resume reading feature is great too as this allows you to reopen a longer/multiple-page document and go back to exactly where you left off.
Microsoft Excel 2013
Apart from the new cloud based features relating to all Office 2013 applications, Excel also has a few additional changes worth mentioning. Improvements in the slicers within pivot tables now allow you to filter data in excel, query and other data tables. Flash fill is a great new feature that detects the pattern in the data being entered and quickly fills in all the missing information for you. There are also a lot of new templates available which makes presenting data a whole lot easier and a new quick analysis tool allows you to convert your data to a chart or table in less than two steps.
