Jesus' Example in Leadership Development

Jesus elaborately invested in the development of spiritual leaders. In terms of time and training, He was extravagant. With prospective leaders He was focused, forceful, persistent, patient, prayerful, sacrificial, compassionate, creative, faith-filled, and forgiving (see Luke 10:1-24 for one example).

A struggle for today's church is, first, to identify prospects who will take time to learn and, then, to provide truly excellent training. Difficult as it may be, this is a worthy and necessary aim, because every church growing in a Christ-exalting way is characterized by godly leaders.

Training is an important component of strengthening churches for Converge. This month alone we offer three excellent training opportunities for you and your ministry partners (see Upcoming Retreats and Trainings below).

Let's work hard--and together--to effectively develop spiritual leaders! And, share with us your ideas on how we can serve you better in this arena.

Trusting Jesus to Lead us,

Prayer Requests for CPW Day of Prayer and Fasting, Tuesday, October 13

The Gordon family and Crosspoint Community Church of Santa Rosa. Lead Pastor Pat Gordon's battle with Leukemia ended September 22 when he took his final breath on earth and awoke in the presence of Jesus.  Pray for God's comfort and special care for Michelle Gordon, her children, and for the entire Crosspoint family.  Providentially, Crosspoint's Associate Pastor Mike Baker has been appointed Interim Lead Pastor and received the leadership baton (literally and figuratively) from Pat on Sunday, September 13.

Pastor Henry and Eleanor Pauls of Central Community Church in Fresno. The Pauls and the church are grieving the death of their oldest child, Jason, who died in an ATV accident in Canada where he lived with his wife and two of his children. Jason's wife and kids just moved back to Fresno to carry on life nearer extended family.

New Covenant Community Church in Fresno and Pastor Scott Borman.
Pastor Scott has been appointed Interim Lead Pastor after former Lead Pastor Jän van Oosten resigned after having an inappropriate, extended relationship with a woman in the church. Jän is pursuing full reconciliation with God and Ginya and is hopeful of restored fellowship with the church after a restoration process that includes a spiritual counselor and care team who will be working with him. Ask the Lord to lead the church in purity and unity as they heal and plan for their future.

Praise God for Coastside Baptist Church and Pastor Mike Orlicky. They celebrated 25 years of in Half Moon Bay on October 4!

Give thanks for the three people went public for Christ through baptism at LifeCity Church, a one-year old Church Plant, in Santa Clara. Check out this baptism promo video!
