Instigating a Bump in Baptisms
|
The original baptist, John, was
not timid about telling people of their need for repentance and baptism (Matt 3:1-6 ). We can take a page out of his book (The Book) to make certain we are not neglecting critical elements and expressions of the gospel. Note: see how New Harvest in Clovis re-centered on the gospel in the cover story of the Fall Converge Newsletter, now in churches throughout the Pacific-West or here. A quick survey:
- Is salvation through trusting Christ mentioned frequently in sermons, lessons, and conversations you're hearing and having?
- Do children and teens hear the gospel message frequently, and are they given the opportunity to respond in your ministry and church?
- Is baptism explained, encouraged, and celebrated regularly in your circles?
- Are baptism classes offered, and is the next scheduled baptism publicized prominently?
Finally, at times we fall short of the results we expect because we fail to ask God and pursue His glory above all. So in addition to inviting others to trust and obey, let's keep asking God to save souls for the glory of His name!
Simple steps may result in big changes -- bringing people to faith, and bringing a bump in God-honoring, life-changing, church-energizing baptisms!
Trusting Jesus to open doors for gospel sharing,
David Yetter
Executive Minister

Thanks to all the women that attended the first Retiro de Mujeres (Hispanic Women's Retreat) in October! The retreat was held near Pinecrest, CA, and there were 42 women in attendance for a time of reflection and fellowship.
Q: Can you clearly explain the gospel in 10 words? A: Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead!
Our fall teaching event was an Evangelism Training
in Fresno with guest speakers Larry Moyers and Armando Zuniga from EvanTell. Feedback on the training was positive and many left feeling better equipped to share the gospel. Last week, we held a Church Planter Assessment Center for nine church planter candidates and their wives. The three-day event was hosted by East Valley Church in San Jose and involved a team of 7 assessors and and a counselor. Each candidate was evaluated to determine if they're wired to be a church planter and if they're ready to plant a church now. Thanks to all that prayed for those involved in the assessment process!
Join us in welcoming baby Jedidiah David Helveston to the world! He was born November 3rd to parents Jason and Laura Helveston, who happen to be the Lead Pastor and First Lady at Dwell Christian Church in San Jose. If his older sister Glori is any indication, Jedidiah will be loved and treasured by not only his family, but by the CPW family-at-large!

CPW Prayer and Fasting Day, Tuesday, November 12

Give thanks to the Lord for the gift of salvation He has given to us through Jesus our Savior!
Thank the Lord for the Church Planters He is raising up in the PacWest district. Ask God to reveal His good plans for each future church plant.
Pray for CPW churches without Lead Pastors. Ask God to select and send the leaders of His choosing for all open church staff positions.
Pray for Pastor Ricardo Garcia as he continues to struggle with health issues resulting from having contracted Valley Fever.
Ask God to cause progress in all CPW churches toward our district goals: Better Gospel Sharing, Better Pastoral Fitness, and Better Church Health.
Ask God to continue to open doors for the gospel, so we will see people respond to Christ's invitation to salvation and to be baptized -- with a goal of 750 baptisms this year (each church baptizing 5% of their weekend attendance)!
We are asking the Lord to identify a Community and Spiritual Development Trainer who might serve us and our Haiti ministry partners in Maissade, Haiti.
