The Seek-and-Save Mode

Zacchaeus, a notorious sinner perched in a tree, was as unlikely a candidate for salvation as you can imagine! But Zack saw Jesus, Jesus made a house call, and Zack was forever changed. Jesus explained that He came to seek and save the lost. Luke 19:1-10 And just like Jesus, you and I are called to operate in the Seek-and-Save Mode
Let me offer three suggestions for getting and staying
in the Seek-and-Save Mode (by the way, it's not a mood, but a mode):
  • Pray for an awareness of and alertness to those who "want to see who Jesus is" as Zacchaeus did.
  • Spend time with "sinners" regularly -- representing Christ by loving and engaging with them and initiating spiritual conversations when appropriate. Warning: some religious folks may question your tactics.
  • Be ready to share the gospel. Want training?
It's surprising to see how God works -- and who He chooses to work in -- when we are regularly seeking the lost.

Trusting Jesus to open doors for gospel sharing,

Noteworthy
CPW's Spanish LEAD Team, Equipo Vital, organizes an annual fellowship, Convivio, that took place last month at Iglesia Bautista Senda de Vida in South San Francisco. Over 170 people participated in the worship, fellowship and training time! Que bueno!!  See more photos in our web-album!

Over one month's span, Lake Way Country Church near Lake Nacimiento and Church Planters Rodger and Julie Coale have seen 21 people follow Christ in baptism! See picture at top and follow the
link to more!

Baptism Story: At a baptismal gathering last month at Golden Hills Community Church in Brentwood a mom shared her testimony that included the story of her son's visit to her hospital room after she had attempted suicide. Her son was a new Christian. As she came out of her mental and emotional fog, she saw her son enter her room, pick up a Bible, and approach her bedside. She silently wondered what he would say or what he might read to her. To her surprise, he repeatedly hit her on the head with the Bible telling her that she needed to get the Bible into her head and do what it said. Starting that very day, she began reading the Bible, and soon after she received Christ as her Savior.
At a recent outreach at a lake near Berean Bible Fellowship of Atascadero, 200 people came out with about half of them being unchurched! This has been followed up with men's gatherings (i.e.: MNF) and women's studies that continue to draw and connect people to the church and the Lord!
Living Hope Neighborhood Church of Richmond has launched The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) this Fall. This follows a good Summer of outreaches including their eye screening (picture to the right) that provides opportunities to share the gospel, performs eye exams, and give glasses to hundreds in their neighborhood.
The Cully Olson Evangelism Grant still has funds available for your church! Looking to do an evangelism project or campaign and need additional funding? Get your application here - en Español or in English.
CPW Prayer and Fasting Day, Tuesday, October 8
Pray that God will use the Evangelism Training onEvangelism Training logo October 12 at NewCov in Fresno to equip hundreds of people in our churches to effectively share the gospel, so that thousands will hear and respond to the good news!
Pray for the upcoming Church Planting Assessment Center taking place at East Valley Church in San Jose, October 29-31. Pray for spiritual protection for the eight candidates as they prepare for assessment.  Also pray for the team of assessors and the counselor.
Pray for David and Rhonda Doupe (Trinity Baptist Church, Solvang) in the recent passing of Ron Way, Rhonda's father, and a church leader.
Pray for new CPW church plants, for the new CPW Latino ministries, and for CPW churches who are introducing new Sunday schedules and services this Fall.
Ask God to continue to open doors for the gospel, so we will see people respond to Christ's invitation to salvation and to be baptized -- with a goal of 750 baptisms this year (each church baptizing 5% of their weekend attendance)!
We are asking the Lord to identify a Community and Spiritual Development Trainer who might serve us and our Haiti ministry partners in Maissade, Haiti.
