"Then the Lord moved..."
|
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Acts 13:2
The church was worshiping the Lord, and in the mode of dependence and expectancy, they were fasting. Then the Lord moved!
God launched the inaugural missionary journey. Barnabas and Saul/Paul, two central leaders, were to be sent out from the First Baptist Church of Antioch (OK, we don't actually know that "Baptist" was in the name). The church and the world have never been the same since.
As we prepare for our Easter celebrations, Mother's Day outreaches, and dad-and-grad honoring times, let's be sure to make worship, prayer, and even fasting central to our personal and church schedules. This kind of priority builds a spiritual sense of dependence on God and expectancy of Divine intrusion. This is, as I see it, doing God's work God's way.
Join CPW in TWO opportunities this month (see below) to demonstrate our yieldedness and readiness to hear and respond to God's next move... among us... for gospel impact!
Praising God for open doors (see CPW News below) of amazing gospel ministry in 2013,

CPW Prayer and Fasting Opportunities in March
|
Tuesday, March 12
CPW Monthly Prayer and Fasting Day Ask God to open doors for the gospel for CPW ministries and leaders. Ask God to strengthen and focus the men coming back from Men's Retreat with a yieldedness and boldness to impact their world for Christ. Pray that those Californians and Haitians involved with and influenced by February's mission trips (see CPW News below) would be hearing and following God whole-heartedly. Ask God to optimize each CPW church's outreach during the Easter season and celebration. Pray that the CPW Board of Overseers and all the nominees for future CPW ministry positions would have spiritual wisdom and courage to follow God's will. Monday-Wednesday, March 18-20 This fasting and prayer focus is being spearheaded by Church Planter John Markum, who will soon be starting LifeCity Church in San Jose. John hopes "to see pastors lead their churches to participate in this, along with friends, family, sister churches, etc., joining LifeCity/San Jose over these three days to fast and pray not just for our church or the South Bay target area, but for the advancement of the Gospel." Open Doors for Gospel Ministry through Mission Teams to Haiti!
A FaithCare team of twenty-two (six from CPW's Berean/Atascadero and Grace/Santa Maria)landed in Cap Haitian on Saturday, February 9, to begin a week that would change their lives forever. Team members came from California, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. They were doctors, pharmacists, nurses, therapists, spiritual counselors, and students. In just one week they had 1,448 medical encounters that included 108 surgeries. While the medical practitioners met the physical needs of the local people, our spiritual team provided counseling and prayer to 943 people. 80 individuals made first time decisions to receive Christ. Praise the Lord! Check out this article from the Santa Maria Times
Another team from NewCov/Fresno folks - with one Golden Hills/Brentwood participant - traveled to Maissade one week later to "show the love of Christ and be ambassadors of the Church to our friends in Haiti" through various projects and contacts. They also went to "see, hear and observe, in order to bring good information back home to help shape the future of our ministry in Haiti." During the California team's time there they met with a coalition of churches led by Pastor Yoyo. The coalition articulated their vision for leadership and youth training with the purpose of revival and evangelism!! We are excited to explore open doors for gospel ministry with them!
