Church Planting: A Team Effort
|
Recently five couples were assessed to evaluate their readiness to plant new congregations that transform lives and communities. The CPW Church Planter Assessment Center was an amazing example of what we can do when we work together. Bay Farm Community Church in Alameda and Pastor John and Joleen Willoughby were outstanding hosts for the 25 people involved in the Assessment. First Baptist Church of Kingsburg raised $5000 at their Offerfest to help fund the Assessment Center. Trinity Baptist of Solvang along with other coastal churches funded one of the candidates and half of the meals. Refuge Community Church of Moraga, a CPW church plant, also contributed to fund meals.
Another part of the team effort was the panel of assessors who invested a week of their time to carefully evaluate and speak into the lives of the candidates: Church Planter Shawn Carpenter of Redeemer Church in Bakersfield, Pastor Jason Helveston of Dwell Christian Church in San Jose, Pastor Ernie Cabrera of Ignite Community Church in Elk Grove, and Mrs. Dee Sheveland from the Converge Worldwide office in Orlando.
Converge Worldwide played a huge role on the team by providing our Assessment Center leader, Curt Gruber, counselors Gerry and Steve Dahl, and administrator Terri Mincks, and Lillie Gonzalez, CPW Church Planting Administrative Assistant, was also a great support to the event.
This represents only a small slice of the team effort needed to plant new churches! CPW churches truly partner to make church planting a reality in Northern California so more people and communities are transformed by the power of Christ and the Good News!
Your grateful team leader,
Paul Root
Church Planting Director

CPW Goal #2 2012-13
|
Strengthen five regional churches through an ordered plan. Example: Calvary Baptist Church of Lompoc took the NCD Survey and determined three areas to improve. A Health Team is presently addressing one of the areas and is renewed and excited about new initiatives.
