PRESIDENT'S LETTER

Vikki_Jones
Vikki Jones, CFRE

Greetings!

On behalf of PPGGNY, thank you to all those who celebrated our 40th anniversary and award luncheon held earlier this month at the Cosmopolitan Club. It felt like a warm reunion as many friends, former colleagues, mentors and friends reconnected. We are delighted to honor and recognize both Jonathan Tidd and Wally Munro, two men who have given so much to our profession. Robert Sharpe led us with his warm welcoming remarks as we raised our glasses in a toast. At the closing of Doug White's presentation, Philanthropy is Not Optional, he shared a close and personal experience that brought tears to many an eye.

We also want to thank all of our sponsors for assisting us in our success, and to our Awards Committee Co-chairs: Margaret M. Holman, Steven L. Meyers, Dianne Armstrong and members: Alexandra Pia Brovey, Meryl Cosentino, Lisa Lager, and Barbara Perry Morgan.

AWARD LUNCHEON RECAP

From left to right: Doug White, Jon Tidd, Wally Munro

Wally Munro was awarded PPGGNY's prestigious Cloughy Award in recognition of his career achievement and the heartfelt appreciation for his leadership in our New York and national philanthropic planning associations.

Jonathan Tidd was recipient of PPGGNY's Lifetime Membership award. Jon accepted a compass in symbolic recognition of his leadership and centrality in the hearts of gift planners.

Doug White's keynote presentation, Philanthropy is Not Optional, was not only a highlight of the event, it marked a defining moment for PPGGNY as gift planners collectively experienced a Frank Capra Moment ("It's a Wonderful Life") -- the difference they make not only for donors, but in the lives of those who follow.
