Dear friends and colleagues,

Storytelling is a rich part of childhood; listening to adventures, admiring heroes, and, always, a life lesson. We heard Grimm Fairy Tales, Aesop's Fables, One Thousand and One Nights, etc. As we listened and visualized the story, memorizing the various details, it was as though we were there. We didn't realize it then, but we were learning to become storytellers.

In our careers in development, we share information about our organizations, current campaigns and special needs. Sharing the vision and the goals we are striving to accomplish can motivate and inspire our supporters to assist us in achieving our missions.

Stacy B. Sulman, J.D. is the Vice President for Family Philanthropy and Legal Affairs for the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science. In that capacity, she works closely with donors, their families, their foundations, and their professional advisors to develop strategic gifts that mesh donors' financial and estate plans with their philanthropic objectives.
