Greetings!
April showers bring May flowers. This month we feature two of our former "reigning" presidents, both highly engaging speakers. Davida Isaacson will present her ever popular "Introduction to Planned Giving" seminar (with a focus on marketing) in the morning, and during our luncheon Bill Samers will discuss how to be more successful in planned giving.
In addition to these educational programs, we will hold a brief business meeting during the luncheon to elect officers and new Board members for 2013-14.
Please join us on April 17th!
Alexandra P. Brovey, J.D. LL.M.
PPGGNY President

ASK THE PRESIDENT
Q: Why will there not be an annual Planned Giving Day this Spring?
A: For financial reasons, and to minimize conflicts with other day-long conferences, the BOD decided to cancel Planned Giving Day in order to devote more of our resources to seminars and educational programs throughout the program year. We are planning a special reception in May to wrap-up this fiscal year, and we also have a special luncheon event planned in the fall (see below).

MARCH 20 EVENTS
Seminar -
Introduction to Planned Giving II
Speaker: Davida Isaacson
In this follow-up to the fabulous Ellen Estes presentation on gift plans we will focus on the marketing of those plans. The Who, Where, Why, and maybe even What will be explored. We will encourage cost effective planned gift marketing - even if you think you don't have a planned gift department. Techniques for piggybacking on existing materials, no cost seminars, and active after-gift marketing efforts will be discussed. This session is designed for the novice planned giving professional or one who has other tasks that seem more pressing. You will leave with ideas to create a planned gift marketing plan which will be easy to implement, yet yield wonderful results.
Davida Isaacson is founder and President of Davida Isaacson Consulting, Inc. She is a nationally recognized lecturer on major gift and planned gift topics and is an adjunct professor at the George H. Heyman, Jr. Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising at New York University.
Ms. Isaacson is President Emeritus of the Planned Giving Group of Greater New York and served on the Board of the National Committee for Planned Giving. While serving on the NCPG Board Ms. Isaacson headed the Research Committee that conducted a premier study of the motivations of planned gift donors.
She continues to lecture extensively for charitable organizations, including the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York, WQED/Pittsburgh, American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science, the National Kidney Foundation, and American Technion Society among others.
Prior to her work in the not-for-profit industry, Ms. Isaacson was a trust and estate banker for twenty years. While a Vice President at National State Bank in Summit, NJ she served on the bank's charitable gift committee and oversaw grantmaking from the bank's discretionary charitable gift fund.
