Greetings!

Brovey New

Another fiscal year is winding down.  Space does not allow thanks to all who deserve it for the many individual efforts over the past year.

I owe the biggest thanks to Past President John Bacon for his mentorship, kudos to Vice President and NYPPS Co-Chair Jill Wasserman and President Emeritus and NYPPS Co-Chair Margaret Holman, and to our beloved PPGGNY administration star team of Ann Woodfield & Ralph Wood.

Thanks to each & every member for your support.  I wish everyone a healthy & restful summer and look forward to seeing you in September.

ASK THE PRESIDENT

Q:  Does PPGGNY "Shut Down" over the Summer?

A:  NO!!  While our fiscal year winds down on June 30, a new fiscal year begins on July 1. The Board of Directors meets to discuss old & new business, and many of our 8 committees are busy planning prior to our first meeting of the 2012-13 fiscal year (on September 19th). If you have any questions over the summer, please send us an e-mail

If you would submit a question for "Ask the President", please send us send me an e-mail.

NYPPS 2012...a recap

PPGGNY's signature annual event was launched with the provocative and original presentation by Amy Herman, founder and creator of The Art of Perception.  Brought back by popular acclaim, Ms. Herman led the symposium participants through a variety of exercises that illustrated the role of non-verbal communication and how it relates to work with planned gift clients.

Twelve additional presentations were made throughout the day in three tracks: Nuts & Bolts & More (co-chaired by Nora Benoliel and Stacy Sulman); Masters (co-chaired by Jon Gudema and Anne Dalgish Koestner), and Innovation (Co-chaired by Chris Bellis and Vikki Jones).

The symposium also featured remarks from the Chair of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, Michael Kateman, during the luncheon, where Ron Brown, Meryl Cosentino, Claudine Donikian and Vikki Jones were elected to the PPGGNY Board. NYPPS Co-chairs, Margaret Holman and Jill Wasserman,

thanked all of the sponsors and exhibitors for helping to make the day possible.

Comments from attendees who responded to our post-event survey include these:

  • "Good feeling all day; good flow...."
  • "I used some of what I learned in a meeting I attended after NYPPS and was amazed at the different perspective I had..."
  • "One of the better & more insightful presentations I have ever been to..."
  • "Extremely relevant and very useful information was shared..."

Once again, there was a long list of lucky winners of the raffle prizes during the concluding cocktail reception.

And finally...NYPPS 2012 netted about 50,000 Marriott Honored Guest Award points which PPGGNY is donating to Marriott's chosen charity, The Children's Miracle Network...just more evidence that PPGGNY and its members have a heart!

Plans are afoot for NYPPS 2013. If you'd like to volunteer to work on the Symposium or have a speaker suggestion, let us know.
