1st Flush Darjeelings Now Available

Organic Darjeeling 1st Flush
Organic Darjeeling 1st Flush from Jungpana Estate

We're celebrating the arrival of the First Flush Darjeeling teas from India. If you haven't gotten a chance to stop by the shop lately, don't worry; there's still plenty of these these special selections available right now.

This year we chose two outstanding teas: one from Giddaphar Estate and an organic selection from Jungpana Estate. Both cup quite nicely with the freshness we look for in the Spring Teas.

We also found a rare  First Flush Darjeeling Green Arya Emerald. It is a light and delicate infusion that still brings forth the best characteristics from Darjeeling.

Come in soon to try these Darjeeling teas while they are at their freshest and most readily available. They will sell out quickly.

From the 2013 World Tea Expo

This year's theme Tea is Hot also applied to the weather in Las Vegas during the expo (up to 117 degrees!), so we spent plenty of time in the air conditioning.

Our Role at the World Tea Expo

Tim Smith with Chicco Chou
Chief Leaf Tim Smith samples a Brandy Oolong with Chicco Chou of Mountain Tea Co at a Chinese tea table.

Last year we won the Top Tea Infusionist Challenge, which was nerve racking but fun. This year I was asked to conduct a focused tasting on Oolong tea. This session was designed for shop owners and retailers to help them learn more about the tea, as well as how to sell and serve Oolong in their shops.

Teaching a class is always a learning experience. There are so many interesting and diverse attendees open and willing to share their knowledge with others in the industry.

Our Goals

We spent time with the friends we have made over the years, tried some new and special teas, and discovered new merchandise and tea producers. Fortunately we were so focused on making the best of our time at the expo we were able to resist to the lure of the casinos.
