Building Bright Futures-
Your source for all things early childhood

The Raising of America Brattleboro event is tonight! Join Let's Grow Kids and Building Bright Futures beginning at 5:30pm at the Latchis Theatre. We have a fantastic panel of speakers lined up following the sneak peek screening of the PBS documentary film. This is a FREE event. Light snacks will be provided. Our hope is that tonight's event will ignite an ongoing conversation about the vital importance and benefits of aggressively investing early in our children. Imagine what our community, state and nation could look like if we prioritize early investment in our children and families.

Those of you following us on Facebook may have noticed a number of posts highlighting the importance of play. A recent New York Times opinion piece described the importance of play in relation to the city's move towards universal, high-quality pre-K programming. A piece from April in Forbes Magazine discussed the long-term positive impacts on our economy as it relates to problem solving and innovation. The increasing scientific evidence to #BringThePlayBack is mounting. How is play a part of your child's early life? As early educators, how do you build play into your programs? Share your ideas and experiences on Facebook.

We hope to see many of you tonight. Check out all the upcoming events below.

Happy Monday!

Save The Date! Early Childhood Forum-Dec 8th
Building Bright Futures: The State of Early Childhood in Southeast Vermont

Save the date for Monday December 8th, 5pm at the Brattleboro Retreat.

Building Bright Futures: The State of Early Childhood in Southeast Vermont

In 2014, Vermont was again ranked second in the nation in the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Kids Count Report. The state also received $36 million in federal funding as part of the Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge to build a high-quality, accessible statewide early childhood system.

Right here in Windham County, we have many bright spots to be proud of that have improved the quality, access and support for early childhood. Yet, we still have much more to do in order to ensure the best possible start to life for all our children.

Join Building Bright Futures for a conversation about the state of Southeastern Vermont's early childhood system, what's working and where we need to improve. Parents, caregivers, employers, elected officials, service providers and anyone who cares about early childhood are invited to participate.
