CIC Earns ANSI Accreditation

Crane Institute Certification (CIC) announces that it achieved accreditation for four of its crane operator certification programs from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under its personnel certification accreditation program.

"To earn ANSI accreditation, CIC participated in a rigorous review process that included submission of more than 11,000 pages of documentation for multiple levels of certifications that escalate by operator skill and knowledge. During the process, which included on-site audits by ANSI assessors, ANSI commended CIC for its policies and procedures for written and practical exams," said Debbie Dickinson, Executive Director. More

CIC urges State Labor Committee to correct deficiency in WV Crane Operator Certification Act

Since receiving ANSI accreditation for four of its mobile crane operator certification programs in June, CIC has put renewed pressure on the West Virginia State Senate Labor Committee to recognize CIC certifications as meeting its requirements.

CIC is compliant with the current Federal OSHA regulation. CIC now holds both NCCA and ANSI accreditation. And, CIC is recognized by federal OSHA and multiple states and municipalities.

"A legislative change is not needed to correct this deficiency since West Virginia's Consumer Protection Act prohibits sole sourcing to a private entity. Furthermore, West Virginia Crane Operator Certification Act stipulates 'ANSI accredited,' to which CIC now qualifies," said Debbie Dickinson, Executive Director.

CIC urges the Senate Labor Committee to act swiftly to maintain fair trade in the state.

Tips for GCs and Subcontractors: Win more bids with specifications for qualified crane and rigging personnel

Contractors know that brand-specific specifications should not be used in bid guidelines when it comes to equipment and products. But did you know that many contractors limit their ability to receive equitable bids on projects because their bid documents don't specify a generic requirement for crane operator or rigger certification?
