It's Showtime in Vegas--Visit CIC at G-2975

 

CIC has been preparing all year for next month's mega construction equipment trade show ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas. We hope to see you there.

 

Highlighting our activities will be the Crane Operator Skills Championship hosted by CIC and Crane & Rigging Hot Line magazine. Two operators will be selected during a qualifying round on March 4-5 to join the 16 others who qualified during 2013 at regional events in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, Jesse Pettit, the 2012 Champion will compete to defend his title. Championship round takes place March 6-7 in the Gold Lot, booth G-2975. More

 

CIC Offers Health & Safety Managers 5 Reasons for Hiring Certified Workers

 

Safety Managers working in Construction must oversee comprehensive risk management programs dealing with a wide variety of standards and regulations. The job requires knowing something about a lot of topics. CIC has produced a document to assist health, safety, and risk managers one important aspect of their job--worker qualification. With the help of CIC Practical Examiners, CIC will participate in several regional safety conferences and industry meetings this spring. Thanks to Mike Sarlo of North Dakota Crane Certification, Jim Headley of Crane Institute of America, the McElraths of M&P Specialty Insurance, and Chet and Travis Good of American Crane Operators, for their willingness to represent CIC at these meetings.

The Clock is Ticking on Crane Operator Certification

 

The clock is ticking on crane operator certification...and the alarm has already rung for qualified signalpersons and riggers. As of today, the effective date for OSHA's Cranes & Derricks in Construction rule, as released in 2010, is November 2014.

 

Although OSHA announced a proposed implementation delay for crane operators to be certified, that delay has not yet been verified. Speaking at various industry meetings over the last several months, Jim Maddux, the head of OSHA's Directorate of Construction, has provided some insight as to what the agency plans to do. More

CIC and ISHM announce that the organizations have entered  into a joint marketing agreement. Both organizations share a common goal of improving the safety and health of workers, and thereby reducing accidents. With the agreement, Advanced Riggers, Lift Directors, Practical Examiners, and Safety Managers will enjoy expanded credentialing opportunities. More

 

Kissimmee Crane School Conducts Friction Crane Practical Exams
Hans Merkel of Kissimmee Crane School, an authorized CIC Practical Examiner, reports they have conducted their first two exams for "Friction" crane designation. A 32-ton Bucyrus Erie 25-B, configured for pile driving, was used for the exam on site at the construction of new boat ramps in Disney's Magic Kingdom. More
