"In heaven you will find complete love, which is the fulfillment of love begun on earth."
                  St. Angela Merici

Dear Parents, Students, and Friends,

Lent is an act of prayer over 40 days. Let us go on a journey that brings us closer to Christ. As an alternative to giving something up, do something positive. Work on personal discipline and reach out to others and help them without question.  Put your faith into action as a way of sharing the experience of God's unconditional love.  Get involved and commit to learn, pray, act and walk with your neighbor.

May God bless you and your families.

St. Angela, watch over all our days.

SALSTHON

The beneficiary of Salsthon 2015 is the Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans (DCHV.org). At a Salesianum School Assembly on Veteran Homelessness, The Honorable Jack Markell, Governor; Major General Francis D. Vavala, Adjutant General; Jane C.W Vincent, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; The Honorable Thomas P. Gordon, New Castle County Executive; and Henry Smith, Veteran, U.S. Army all recognized and thanked the students of Salesianum, Ursuline, and Padua for their accomplishment. The students raised over $150,000 so the DCHV could expand permanent housing for homeless veterans in the Wilmington area. Representing Ursuline are seniors Emma Derr, Student Council President and Katie Hosey, Student Council Vice President. View NBC10 news video: http://goo.gl/gu5bd2.

Ursuline Academy will hold a blood drive with Blood Bank of Delmarva from 8:30AM to 12:30PM on Monday, February 22nd.
You can be a hero just by rolling up your sleeve and giving blood! Blood Bank of Delmarva needs about 350 donors a day to supply all 16 hospitals on Delmarva-helping more than 20,000 patients a year. Your one pint of blood can save up to three lives.
Some things to keep in mind if you decide to give blood:
  • You must be between the ages of 17 and 79 years old and have a photo ID with proof of birth date.
  • You must weigh at least 110 pounds.
  • You must be in general good health.
  • If you had a tattoo, body piercing, or branding within the past 2 weeks, you may not give blood. Ear piercing conducted by a reputable technician using an ear piercing gun is acceptable.
  • If you have traveled outside of the U.S., please bring a list of any countries you have visited. You should know where you went, when you went, and how long you were there. Note: Malaria risk areas change on a continual basis. For more information on donor travel guidelines, visithttp://www.delmarvablood.org/locations/donor-travel-guidelines/.
Be Someone's Hero. Give Blood.
We hope you will decide to join in saving local lives.
Please email: ebarnett@ursuline.org if interested in donating or volunteering at the drive.

Thank you!
