What is the Future of Human Rights


 

   Now couldn't be a better time for the upcoming talk by former Amnesty International Director and well known human rights advocate, Dr. William Schulz.


 On Saturday, December 13, at 5:00 pm, Dr. Schulz will discuss, "Do Human Rights Have a  Future?" at the Unitarian Universalist of Northern Nevada, 

780 Del Monte Ln, Reno   

Tickets $5.00,  Students $3.00,  purchase ahead or  $8.00 at the door


   While the international scene will be discussed regarding issues of terrorism and torture, issues close to home regarding race and incarceration are sure to be included.


   Dr. Schulz was the executive director of Amnesty International USA before he became thepresident and CEO of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC), a nonsectarian organization that advances human rights and social justice in the United States and around the world.

Immigration Reform Warriors 

 

   ACTIONN's Immigration Strategy Team is planning to show a series of documentaries on Immigration on Friday, January 16, at 6 pm.

 

   This will be a fun event with meaningful discussion in between each film and snacks to share. 

 

   Join us to help choose your favorite films to be show in and around our faith our communities to help open hearts and minds to the situation our immigrants face both in leaving their home countries and in the struggles in the U.S.

Expanding the Pipeline

To Living Wage Jobs

 

ACTIONN  leaders will meet with the  ally Nevada  Hospital Association on Tuesday Dec  16 to  move forward  on creating new systems for coordination of clinical internships, to remove one of the barriers the colleges face in creating and expanding their training programs in healthcare.
