"...through the Parent Teacher Home Visit Project  I have learned that teachers are human and that their hopes and dreams are the same as ours (as parents.) They really just want to teach our children to be smart, happy, confident individuals. And that is pretty AWESOME !" reported parent, Harmony Mcquade in her blog post.

How Real Change Happens

The Reno Gazette Journal printed an Op Ed piece on Tuesday this week about how real change happens, with everyday people stepping up to make a difference. ACTIONN is featured: Read "How Real Change Happens" here

 Building Diversity

As ACTIONN is intentional about dismantling implicit bias and racial oppression, we have created a Community Diversity Caucus, chaired by Precious Hall, from the political science dept of Truckee Meadows Community College.

ACTIONN leaders who represent diverse backgrounds, (African American, Latino, Native American so far) are engaging with us to develop strategy and to outreach to diverse faith communities to build participation in ACTIONN.

They have an ambitious agenda to meet with 20 African American pastors during this first quarter of 2014 to build closer relationships.

Stay tuned for updates on our progress.

Who do you love?

As we head into Valentines Day, let's pause to reflect on the ones we love and the reasons we are in the struggle together - let us remind ourselves and our elected officials who we love and the reasons why we are fighting for change this year.

Tell us who you love between now and February 18 and we will include your photo in an instillation to be displayed at the 2014 PICO Convocation at the end of February as PICO network directors, clergy, and board chairs gather.

Send your photo to [email protected], and be sure to include your name and state along with your photo.

So tell us, who do you love?
