PCCNA Launches Two Commissions
|
The PCCNA Executive Committee has formally approved the formation of two new commissions - the Christian Unity Commission and Prayer Commission. PCCNA President Jeff Farmer cautions, "Do not let the title Commission deceive you into thinking these leaders are engaged in business as usual. The days in which we live portend great conflict in the heavens, which will continue to manifest itself with increasing turbulance and spiritual warfare between righteousness and wickedness in the earth. The PCCNA Board of Administration has charged these commissions with a call to desperate prayer and radical action - to advance the kingdom of God by demonstrating unity in the power of the Spirit."
Dr. David Cole is directing the Christian Unity Commission with Dr. Cecil Mel Robeck of the Fuller Theological Seminary and Dr. Harold Hunter, Director of IPHC Archives and Research Center and the designated liaison for IPHC.
Dr. P. Douglas Small, Church of God Prayer Coordinator, is directing the PCCNA Prayer Commission with Dr. Lou Shirey (IPHC) and John Maempa (AG). The PCCNA Prayer Commission is hosting a special session at our February 24-26, 2016 annual meeting. The Christian Unity Commission also plans to host a special session.

PCCNA Members Respond to Supreme Court Decision on Same-Sex Marriage
|
The Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage caused an uproar among Christians across the nation. PCCNA members responded with wise counsel as well as a call to renew our commitment to holiness, prayer and evangelism. Here's a round-up of responses from some of our members.
From Doug Beacham, General Overseer of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church: "The leadership of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC) is disappointed in the US Supreme Court ruling that fundamentally redefines the scripturally based, millennia-old definition of marriage. We continue to hold that marriage is between one man and one woman (Gen. 2:18-25; Matt. 19:4-6; Eph. 5:31)." Click here to read more.
From Charles E. Blake, Sr., Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ:"Today, the Church of God in Christ reaffirms its long-held position that marriage is a union between a man and a woman, basing our decision firmly on the Bible." Click here to read more.
From George Wood, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God: "Today is a sad day for America. In Obergefell v. Hodges, a 5-4 majority of the Supreme Court ruled: 'The Fourteenth Amendment requires a State to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-State.' As a Christian minister and general superintendent of the Assemblies of God, I am deeply concerned with the Court's redefinition of marriage and the negative effects that it may have on religious freedom." From Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, Director of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference: "Today's SCOTUS decision redefining marriage serves as a defacto and legal catalyst for the marginalization of Americans who embrace a biblical worldview. Still, we affirm the Court's recognition to uphold proper protection of religious organizations and persons, under the First Amendment rights, as they seek to teach the principles that are so fulfilling and so central to their lives and faiths, and to their own deep aspirations to continue the family structure they have long revered." From Mark Williams, General Overseer of the Church of God: "The Church of God stands with fellow Christians who understand that God intended marriage to be between a man and woman, as explained in Genesis and confirmed by Jesus, when He declared that the Creator has "made them male and female," and that "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." Our church joined in the Supreme Court case by means of an amicus brief requesting consideration for this millennia-old view of marriage propounded by Scripture." click here to read more.
From Samuel N. Clements, General Overseer of the Church of God of Prophecy: "The Church of God of Prophecy believes that marriage is a lifelong institution, established by God, between a man and woman joined as husband and wife. By its very nature, marriage exists for the mutual love and support of spouses, for the procreation and training of children, and as a foundation for community." Click here to read more.
From Charles E. Blake, Sr., Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ: "Today, the Church of God in Christ reaffirms its long-held position that marriage is a union between a man and a woman, basing our decision firmly on the Bible." Click here to read more. (move up)
