BISHOP DONALD TRAUTMAN will be celebrant and homilist at the 2013 AUSCP Assembly's Eucharist.
While he was chairman of the USCCB's Committee on the Liturgy, Erie's Bishop Trautman took his critique of the then-proposed changes to the Roman Missal to the U.S. Catholic public.
In an article published in America magazine, May 21, 2007, he asked "How Accessible are the New Mass Translations?" (Read it here: http://www.eriercd.org/america.asp )
After presenting examples of the nonsensical proposed language, he invited a response from the reader: "CHURCH OF GOD, JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES. SPEAK UP, SPEAK UP!"
One who did speak up was AUSCP member Michael G. Ryan who responded to Bishop Trautman's invitation with his own article in America and then with his website: www.WhatIfWeJustSaidWait.org. Most of our AUSCP membership endorsed this.
How "right and just" it is then as the AUSCP celebrates the Vatican II constitution, Lumen Gentium, "God's Pilgrim People," that we enjoy the fellowship of these brothers at Seattle University, June 24-27, 2013. Come, join us.
As of April 16, 2013 there were Assembly registrants from 39 U.S. Dioceses and 10 Religious orders. Make your reservation soon since space is limited. Do it online at our website: www.uscatholicpriests.org or request the Assembly brochure by phone, 724-850-1616 to register "the old way."
